I was going to drive 30 minutes to clean someones house for $25. My aunt just told me that was waaaay to little and I should charge like $75. What do you think? How much would you charge? I clean at a hotel, and am now just branching out into cleaning other peoples houses. Thanks!

I pay someone $65 to come clean once a month. She is very affordable, though. I have paid $65 per week to have my house cleaned in the past. Basically, the more often you clean for them, the less you should charge per cleaning, but $25 is waaaayyyyy too cheap unless you are in a very low cost area.
I would google housecleaning in your area and see what other house cleaners are charging.
You also need to figure in the amount you have to pay for gas. And do you provide the cleaning products or do you use the homeowner's stuff?0 -
Thanks! I knew $25 was way to little. But my Grandmother set up the job. They ended up paying me $50 for three hours of basic cleaning/dusting.
I used their products today. But I bought some one the way home, because I have a few jobs like this.0 -
$25/hr minimum. Add more if your drive is beyond 10 or 12 miles each way. I used to have a job that I bid by the job rather than the hour, I got $75 for what averaged about 1 hour and 45 minutes, every week. And she gave me a raise w/o me asking!0

I used to clean an older couple's house for them when I lived in MS. They paid me $10 an hour for 3-4 hours a week of cleaning. I was between jobs, so it really helped to pay for the gas money I needed to look for a new job.0

That does seem like too little, especially considering that you had to drive that far!0
