Okay.. I have been struggling with this problem for like.... ever... lol

I am a pear shaped person; smaller on the waist and up but huge and gigantic on my thighs and butt (fugly). I stopped wearing skirts long time ago because my thighs will rub together and cause pain and blisters. even wearing shorts look so awful.

and I've seen... (no offence to anyone) bigger girls here in my country that they wear skirts??!! how do they do it? i have no idea.. i couldn't actually go up to them and ask them. lol that'll get a slap on the face.

So any... advice? :frown:

PS. I hate my butt and thighs.

If you're working out, use baby oil. Apply it to the parts that chaff and you should be good. If you're looking to stay dry, baby powder is a cheapest and best bet.

There's an anti-chaffing gel called Lanacane. It's a miracle worker and certainly beats wearing extra clothes in hot weather. I lived in Dubai for a year and Lanacane became my best friend :)

I have the same issue. One of my goals is to have a refund gap. If I have to wear a skirt or dress I put baby powder on to stop chafing.
  • Flour, works just as good. One boy in my class had chaffing under his arms while we were on camp and since we didn't have any powder we used flour. He said it worked and he wasn't in pain anymore.

believe it or not a little bit of lubricant, like KY is good to keep you from chaffing. May sound silly, but it works.

Body Glide! I use it for running in shorts and when I wear dresses/shorts in the summer. You can find it at pretty any sporting goods store or a running store.

    monistat anti-chafing gel

That stuff is awesome. I learned about it when I read a tutorial where a girl used it for eye shadow primer. I bought some, and tried it for the primer suggestion, and it works great for that, and it also completely relieves any chafing when I wear short-shorts for running =)

I wear thin silk bicycle shorts underneath skirts. The silk stays cool and dries quickly if you sweat. When I tried creams, gels, and powders they worked fine when it wasn't too hot but became sticky after sweating.
  • I am sorry you hate your thighs and buttocks. Some of the most attractive women, IMHO, are pear shaped. :o:\:D!

Wow great topic and suggestions!Walking, swimming, yoga, pilates, etc there are lots of workouts for legs.I have heard there are summer spanx now.Learning to love yourself and focus on the positive is something I've had to do too.

this happens to me in the summer too...so don't worry, you aren't the only one...

Get some bodyglide...it is what runners use when certain parts of their bodies start to chafe... Just rub it on the insides of your thighs and it will prevent the rash from happening. It is great!! :)

Also, you can try to wear undergarments like spanx (shorts) that will stay hidden under your skirt. :)

Instead of a slip, I wear a pantaloon slip...it's made out of similar material as a slip but has legs in it. It has saved my life when wearing dresses. It would be the same idea as wearing the spanx, although I've never worn those so not sure of what that would be like. It's a very light weight material so is not hot, to me. I use corn starch or baby powder but that stuff only works for a small amount of time. If it's hot and I'm sweating or doing a lot of moving, I need something in there to keep it from chafing.

Shorts underneath like everyone else suggested works well, but sometimes it's too hot to wear shorts so body glide works wonders. No need for re-application and lasts forever!

I use that when it's hot and my boobs sweat. It works great under there for chaffing.

I completely understand!! I only wear shorts that come to my knees or capris because my thighs are massive. If I wear a dress, I wear spanx underneath. I only own jean skirts and I only wear them if I know I'm not going to be doing much walking (i.e, sitting in a bar). Bathing suits - oh my geezus... let's not go there. Running, I wear spandex under running shorts. I hate the way the outter shorts bunch up in your crotch haha... but I just kinda get over it while running since that's where the spandex come into play.

And I have a stick of that stuff runners use for chaffing... it helps me, but doesn't completely eliminate the problem.
