I'm going out on friday for a meal with my workmates... its a buffett style resteraunt, something I normally would absolutely love and eat until I feel sick... and then theyre all going out drinking, which I dont really want to miss out on! Does anyone have any advice about how to control my eating at the buffett and then any low calorie drinks I can enjoy?!

  • STEP AWAY FROM THE MAC & CHEESE!! NO BREADS, NO DESSERT! Eat lots of salad and veggies and lean meat. Save your calories for a couple drinks. While alcohol does of course have calories, it's what you mix it with that can really hurt you. So stay away from fruity drinks or regular soda. Bacardi and diet Coke is a favorite of some of my friends but I can't stand the diet soda. So I just drink a top shelf vodka on the rocks with a splash of lime juice. A "skinny" margarita is just Patron Silver with a splash of Cointreau and a squeeze of lime, shaken and poured on the rocks. Tastes just like a regular margarita without the sugary mixer....plus it packs a heck of a punch. A couple of those and you will be snockered. Also alternate an alcohol drink with a glass of seltzer or water, it will help keep you hydrated. I think that you can probably get info on drink calorie counts on drinksmixer.com or some other bartender type website.

    Drink Vodka Diet Coke (or Diet Lemonade/Soda) - thats the lowest cals your gonna get!

    Just be careful with the foods - eat what you want, but in moderation! Enjoy your night out!! xx
  • Go out and enjoy yourself! Just pick heathly items from the buffet and drinking vodka and diet coke is a good suggestion at 67 calories a drink. A couple of weeks ago I think I had about 670 calories worth of vodka and I wasn't even thinking about eating after drinking all that. Have a good time!

    Sneak in a morning workout, then you'll have extra calories to enjoy :-)

    I have a simple rule:
    Burn to Earn.
    When I know I m gonna have a party I make sure I burn a lot that day!
    So that I can earn more calories to consume.
    So I would say..
    1. Do exercise that day n day before n after without fail
    2. drink loads of water before you enter into the party n even during the party that will make you feel a little bit less hungry
    3. Pick more of salads n low calorie options from the food menu
    4. Try to share the desserts or any junk that you are eating with soneone else
    5. Just keep your mind focus on what you are eating dont just eat without calculating!
    Thats what works for me :-)

  • I just can't seem to control myself in situations like that! Its so annoying :-( I will be sticking to the diet drink & vodka and I'm going to work out in the morning and watch what I eat for my other meals very carefully!

    When I have plans like that, I just dont eat lunch (and i never eat breakfast anyway)... then dont worry too much about the buffet.. by that I mean pick healthy, but you're eating your days worth of calories in one sitting, so its not that bad. have fun.

    try to hit your macros, but if you cant for that one day, it doesnt make or break your diet unless you make it a habit.
