So I've lost 10lbs since Jan and my belly is definitely smaller, but the last of the gut and the EFFING love handles are holding on for dear life! Is anyone else experiencing this/have any advice? Are they the last thing to go?

Its funny I was wondering the same thing so I emailed my boyfriend to ask him to ask his personal trainer the same question, about the "love handles" here is the response:
Thanks for forwarding me this, XXXXXXXX. I’d be glad to help.
"With regards to fat loss anywhere on the body, there’s no realistic way (without some form of surgery) to spot fat loss. Once fat loss occurs, it occurs throughout the body. THE best way to rid of body fat is easy…but not necessarily simple; daily caloric deficit tops them all. Meaning you have to expend more energy than you put in, with this energy being food. Exercise wise, cardiovascular training (i.e. jogging, walking, biking, etc) at low-moderate intense utilizes fat more so than carbs (body’s #1 fuel source).
In addition to cardiovascular exercises, strength training is just as important (what makes muscle, keeps muscle). Total body workouts are ideal; the more you work, the more body fat you burn off. So, while you can’t spot body fat, you’ll improve everything else whether it’s improving your strength areas or your weak areas.
Hopefully that made sense. Let me know if there’s anything else I can do for you. Thanks." BRTRTIAK hope this helps ya..:)0 -

For males, they're typically the last to go and the first to come back. Usually, the last place you lose fat is the first place it is stored. With men, it is typically the waist (love handles). With women, it is typically the hips/butt or boobs. This isn't the case for everyone, but holds true the majority of the time.
So in keeping with Murphy, the place you want to lose fat the most is usually the last place you lose it. And the first place you gain it. Ask any body builder how low their body fat must be before their abs begin to show. Typically about 8%. Their abs are also the first thing to disappear when they go back to a more normal routine.
I hear all the time people asking why they can't see their abs after doing 200 crunches a day. It is because their abs are covered with a layer(s) of fat. Abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.0 -
All of that definitely makes sense. While that's SO frustrating, I'm happy to hear that I'm on the right track. I hope this is just a matter of continuing further down the road I'm on.
THANKS TO BOTH OF YOU!0 -
I am right there with you. Gotta just keep working at it.0
