Does addiing lemon to water really aid in weight loss? I've heard this, and was curious what you think (or know!).

As far as I know, there is no evidence for it. However, I have a theory that because it's a little more tasty with the lemon, people are more inclined to drink all of their water, and that DOES help.

Oooooh that's a good point! I know I drink more when there is lemon in my water :) Never thought of that!

I've heard it's something about adding a few electrolytes (it's what plants crave!) but I have never seen anything one way or another. I'm sure it's out there, but I just don't care enough to search it out. Lemon in water is tasty, though. :)

hee hee thanks kiwiburger :) mmmmm burgers sound good right now. lol
  • I do recall one of my teachers mentioning that as soon as you add anything, such as lemon, to your water your body no longer treats it as a cool refreshing glass of h2o but rather as food, kicking in your digestive system same as if you just ate. Especially with anything acidic like lemon, lime, orange ect.
Lemons are said to help aid in weight loss because they are high pectin fiber which helps fight hunger cravings. They are also an antiseptic which cleans impurities out of the body. So I guess the answer here would be yes, lemon water can aid in weight loss.

Here's a cool site that should help.
