Over and Under calorie intake

I don't always make my 1200 calorie intake on the days I work out, however, I do have days when I'm over e.g. going out on a Friday night / out for dinner / cinema etc which seems to balance out the calorie deficit for the days I'm under. I suppose my question is, am I risking going into starvation and does anyone else 'save' their calories up?

Look at your calorie intake on a weekly basis. You have a number of calories to spend. If you want to lose weight you can't overspend. Got it? Good.0 -
I thought thats what some people call spiking? x0

Do you mean adding up those calories not eaten, then I "save them up" in terms of how many pounds I didn't eat (without puting myself into starvation mode). If I know I'm going to be cheating (planned cheat meal/day), then they come in handy, so as long as I compensate for the extra calories at one sitting (you know, the "stuff" that the body converts to fat because it will only use a certain amount of a nutrient per meal, based on its needs).0

Your cals won't reset overnight. Some people create deficits by skipping breakfast and lunch some days of the week (aka eat stop eat/intermittent fasting), I do 24hour fasts twice a week and create a 3500 calorie deficit that way.. It's fine to use cals leftover from one day, the next day, provided you're creating a deficit overall..0

I have done similar to this... What counts is your weekly average not your absolute daily amounts.0 -
Thanks everyone! I'm going to stick to managing the weekly total as it does seem to be working for me - Weigh Wednesday tonight so I guess we'll see
