McKenna's Tapping technique

I saw this last night - caught the rerun. TOTALLY skeptical about this. So today after lunch I was making a bee-line for the donut box that always sits there and taunts me. I was going to finish the Apple Fritter I picked at yesterday. Stopped as i got there and thought "I'm going to try it" So I did it. Forgot the eye stuff, but did everything else. Imagine my total amazement when the desire for the donut was completely gone. I am kind of shocked and dazed by this. Weird!! Anyhow, saved me about 150 calories or 200. Guess I won't argue with success!! Anyone else tried it?

LOL, that's cool. It works the same way (and this is going to sound a little odd but...)as touching your dog with your toe in the back of their butt while going "Shhhhhhh" loudly (like Ceasar Millan does). If you break the concentration and give the person (or dog) something else to focus on, the desire as well as the whole emotional state changes. It could be a tap on the head, or shouting "lu lu lu lu lu" while jumping up and down, it doesn't matter what you do, it's all about the cause and effect. You KNOW that when you do that it is suppose to take your mind off focusing on the food, so that's what it does. Sneaky huh? I learned all about this way back in college in some of my psych classes, I forgot them (cuz I don't use them) but I just recalled it.0 -

It's weird. You tap about 10 times each place with your index and middle finger - first under your eye, then on your collar bone, then under your eye, then collar bone, then side of hand near wrist, then back of hand, then eye, collar bone, back of hand. This time while tapping the back of your hand you look down to the right, without moving your head, then to the left then roll your eyes all the way around, then the other direction then close your eyes for a second, then open them then hum a little tune (told you - weird) just about 8 - 10 notes, then count 1 - 5 out loud (I did softly LOL) then hum again. Then you are done and assess how bad you still want the food. Funny - He said you may have to do it a couple of times. But only once. I'm sure I looked like a baffoon! LOL. But I totally did not want the donut. I could feel how full I really was from lunch and there was no appeal to that donut anymore. Nothing else has been able to distract me from the call of the donut box like that. He says it retrains your brain to think differently - whatever. I was just pleasantly surprised that it worked!!0 -
Glad it worked for you, but I just don't have time for all that tapping. Just reading all the places you have to tap made my skin itch. :noway: I am not a patient person and I am on the go all the time so I will leave the tapping to someone who is way more patient than I am.0

Works for me too... I went to the grocery store on lunch to get some healthy snacks and walked right past the bakery.. bad idea. I did the whole thing really quickly in the bathroom and it helped alot. Distraction or not, it works for me!0

I don't know about anyone else but watching this guy has actually made me eat more and buy things and think things i never did.
I wish i never saw the show but its amazing on how others are really really losing the weight and changing their lives and I am so happy for them.
I don't think its right for me.0 -

Funny what will trigger us, isn't it?? I have the hardest time watching Biggest Loser sometimes. I just have to have ice cream  Makes me a little crazy! Maybe I'll try tapping instead0 -
I didn't see the show but this sounds a lot like EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) and it's used for a variety of things. Glad to hear that it worked for you. I'll have to put some more time in to it for myself. I was skeptical about the whole thing but have heard of people having great success with overcoming a variety of things in their lives.
Thanks for the post!0
