I posted this in another place ( fitness and weightloss) but I thought this may get answers in here,. Any help would be a appreciated!
I have a Polaris HRM, it so far has been good to me when it comes to being accurate in comparsion to MFP, they are about 50 calories apart on my exercises. So I was curious what my calorie burn is in a day, now my job is super fast paced, and I am bending lifting, running all day ( I am a veterinary surgery nurse) anyway, I turned on my hrm monitor yesterday and I let it tally while I was working. Yesterday I put in 14 hours, and in that timeframe my HRM said I burned 3242 calories?1?! my average heartrate was 105. This seems a bit much to me, I mean I really dont stop and my just does keep my heartrate up, but really? Anyone have any thoughts. I have my HRM programmed with my average HR and my age and all that jazz....

  • hmm...i think it could be right. i'm a very hands-on vet and worked the same kind if shifts as you and was thin my whole life eating whatever i wanted (although i don't like fast food or junk) until severe injuries forced me to live at basically BMR for over 2 years and i gained 65 pounds cause i still ate like i was working at hospital. ''wrestling with rotties' all day does burn a huge amount of calories. unless someone has worked in a vet hospital they cannot fathom how very active we are all day non-stop.

thanks for the input. I guess I am so used to the work load, I have never really considered how much effort it really takes. My goal is to wear it on non work days and on work days and compare the average. If this is the case I am totally under eating!
