Hi I have yoyoed for 22 years and do well I lose 12-60lbs then regain and do it all again every year except 5 in 22 years so that 17 years of weightloss weigh gain

My problem now is FEAR fear Ill repeat my old pattern I know this is a life style change and I can do this but old habits die hard and they say 98% of all people who lose weight regain,I want to be that 2%

Any ideas how to change my mind set will be helpful I may go see a hypnotist as ive had counselling and NPL and CBH :(

POSITIVE THINKING

You are doing great! The key to success, and you mentioned it in your post, is life style change. We aren't dieting to lose weight, we are changing our life style to get healthy. We don't go to the gym, we go to the health club. Find something in your life that means everything to you and focus on what it would mean if you weren't there, couldn't do it, be a part of it. My "wake up" call was watching my mother with her grandkids (my children). I suddenly realized that, the way I was going, I wasn't going to have that relationship with my kids as my weight was killing me. I want to be here to play with my grandkids (they better not get here for at least 10 years!), and listen to my kids tell me how hard parenting is and be able to say "pay back is a bit&h"! I choose life over food. I couldn't have both. You can do it!

Have you ever tried to lose weight like this before? I am a hopefully former yo-yo dieter who fought against counting calories in favour for all the fads out there! I have to say this is much better - I have changed my lifestyle and also the way I think. I am really enjoying this journey and it seems so much more relistic and sustainable for the rest of my life it gives me the motivation and will power to continue even when the other fads have failed. I have survived some pitfalls on this journey and I am happy with the results I see - I am very proud of that!

I think alot of the times I have failed in the past have been because I have looked for quick fixes because it seemed easier and I set unrealistic goals for myself.

    Good luck on your journey!

When driving a car, everyone knows that the car goes wherever we look. If we are looing into the ditch, eventually we drive the car there!

If you are thinking and worrying about the yo-yo you will end up doing just that. Its a funny thing about us humans...often we seal our fate with our negative thought pattern.

Pull yourself out...you have to over-ride your negativity and become a positive person. This is the secret to life...life gives back what you give it. If your always looking for negatives, you will most certainly find them. If you look for postives, you will most certainly find those too!

I can relate because I have been a yoyo dieter for years, I feel great when I diet and have so much energy and feel real good but somehow I end up going back to old habits. Jillian Michaels said one time on the biggest loser is that you need a real reason planted in your mind why you need and want to lose weight or your just wasting your time going thru the motions and will quit. We must find that reason and motivation and plant it our head and go for it to get that weight off and keep it off. Good luck to you in your weight loss journey.
