No, 30 day shred is an aerobic based exercise plan.

    HIIT is anaerobic.

They both engage two different energy systems. HIIT is better for body composition.

I think the shred is more muscle confusion.

I'd also like to know more about HIIT. I know what the definition is, but have no idea what a HIIT workout would look like. I'm really interested in trying it.

You could try Turbo FIre HIIT. Its an exercise program using only HIIT. Insanity also uses HIIT.

It's when you jog or walk at a set pace, then you go for an all out sprint for a set time, you rest, then sprint again.

I do HIIT on the treadmill. once I warm up I sprint for 40 seconds followed by 80 seconds of jogging and repeat for 12-16 minutes, then cool down.

    Some do a 2:1 rest:sprint interval, some do 1:1, other 1:2.

Its like working at 90% of you max capacity for 20 minutes (just an example) instead of working at 60% of your max capacity for 60 minutes.

When I do HIIT I walk @ 4.0 speed at a level 3 incline on a treadmill for 2 minutes then I run @7.5 speed for 1 minute on the same incline... I'll do this back and forth for about 20 mins... Sometimes I increase my run speed or inclines... I think of it as getting your HR up really high and then cooling down over and over again..

    Others may do it different...

I kinda do that. I run hard unti I cant stand it then I bring my heart rate down and do it again.

I love it... It's quick and you get a great burn... After 20 mins of doing HIIT I'll then walk at inclines from 5-12 for 10 minutes @ 3.5 speed.... Then I'll do another 10 minute HIIT... So I'm typically on the treadmill for 40 mins... I only do this twice a week on my cardio days...

Great information. I've been looking for a way to "kick up" my workout. HIIT looks like its worth a try.
