New clothes

For years (at least three), I had some jeans that I was too big to wear, sitting up in my closet, waiting for when I lost just enough wait to squeeze into them. That time never came, by the time I had lost enough weight to get into them, they were a little too big. One pair, fit OK, but the belt loops were apparently from a different era and my 'big' leather belt just didn't fit right, so I bought a pair of painter's jeans from Old Navy and never looked back. (donating all my old clothes to Goodwill)

I have been watching my wife go through clothes since probably October of last year, first was the stash she had out in the garage of her stuff. Then the stash of stuff a friend who had lost a bunch of weight gave, her then another stash that a co-worker's wife had given her. She has bought some new stuff here and there, but more or less, she has just been wearing stuff that folks have given her.

I have bought some new clothes here and there, no 'hand-me downs' though. I recently realized that the size 42s that I bought not too long ago, were getting a little bit, so I bought a single pair of 40s. And with it being winter, I had already donated all but one pair of my shorts, I kept my 'fancy' shorts a nice pair of bermudas that had always been comfortably snug.

It was/is destined to hit 80 today, so I dug them up and found myself doing the classic 'thumb pull, these pants are huge' move, I snapped a pic and sent it to my wife. On the fence about posting it here, it is totally safe for work, just not comfortable yet posting any pics of myself yet.

Since Thanksgiving of this past year, I have started watching how much food I eat. And have increased my exercise from swimming three times a week (usually 2x 30mins and 1 x 60) to doing circuit training 3-4 times a week (once a week with a personal trainer, each time is a minimum of 50 minutes or so) and often followed up with at least 30 minutes of swimming, sometimes I just do 80 mins of circuit training.

I have gone from a size 46 pants to a 40. And all of my XL t-shirts are now starting to feel a little bit big, my XXLs are too big and I have donated most of them. I have several hockey jerseys that I don't think I will be able to ever part with, those are like XXL & XXL, cuz well they just come big like that.

And today, I ordered new boxer briefs, because my XXL ones, while they stay up, are now too big, so I will thin the herd and in another week or so, probably get another package and replace them completely.

I am about 38 pounds from my goal weight and I am a feeling like things are going great. I do regret buying a new suit right at x-mas, as I might actually have to have it taken in before I can really wear it. But other than that, it is cool and fun to be able to shop for clothes at a store that are hip and trendy because I am starting to fit that upper range of what your average Old Navy and Target types carry.

Hi - I know exactly what you mean. Last year I lost 15lbs and bought a load of new clothes, then the regrettable happened and I slowly put it all back on bar 3lbs. Today, I tried some trousers on for work, that I hadn't been able to wear since before Xmas - FANTASTIC, they fit wonderful and I feel sooooo goooooood!!!
  • Good for you!! Keep up all the hard work. It sounds as if it is paying off for you!!!
