I am more motivated to workout when I do group exercise classes.
  • thanks i might just have to try that
  • I schedule my workouts and put it on my outlook calendar. It's like I have an important meeting to go to that I would never miss if it was work related. Plus the hardest part is getting there, but once you're there and finish and exercise you feel 10x better. Also, the more you exercise the more energy you have to continue to want to exercise.

Just do it!! Put on your workout clothes and start doing it- you can do anything for ten minutes, right?
And chances are, after ten minutes, you'll feel so great that you'll just keep going....So get out there!!

I definitely second what everyone before me has said. You always feel so much better after working out. Try finding good music to pump you up that you will look forward to hearing, and take your mind off exercise.
And also...find something you really like to do! Even going dancing for a few hours really helps, or dance alone in your home...go for a walk with a friend or the dog, basically just staying active makes a world of difference!

I just put on my workout clothes too. Either I come home and change into them, or start in them for the day. Once I'm that far, it's pretty easy to go through with the workout. It's almost like I made the decision to do it, then it's just a matter of when I go to the gym or get on the treadmill at home.

another thing that helps is having a class that I want to do/try. I know what time it is so I just know that I need to be at the gym in time for that class.
  • Ditto on the aerobics class. If you find a regularly scheduled class and go to it, once you're in the door and warming up, you're less likely to walk out in front of all your fellow participants. Call it a bit of pride holding you in place, but it's a healthy pride in the long run.

I'll try - exercising feels really great both during and after. Also, I think of it as a blessing to be able to move so fully (having some family members who are wheel chair/walker users really changed my view of things). And also, it's pretty cool that exercising is such a personal and powerful thing we can do for ourselves.
  • thanks all for all the wonderful advice!!:flowerforyou:
