Lunges squats and running. You sould like about the same size as me. I'm a medium/Large top and 14/16 bottom. Lunges, squats and running are what are helping me. I've lost 5 inches off my hip area since the end of January.0

I second the running!
I'm small on top and medium on bottom (size wise, I'm 5 foot)
running helps the thighs!. it's starts above the knees and works its way up (slowly!!!)0 -

Thanks for this! I have been doing lots of running and I have noticed that the knees have started going down. I am glad to hear that the thighs are next! :happy:0 -
Any more advice? Not very good at running0

Do you have a physical problem that prevents you from running, or are you just not comfortable running?
Can you power walk or jog. If you start out walking you can build up your strength for running.0 -

there is this exercise i do, if done properly, that absolutely kills. i got it from cosmooptibody video
you lay on your side. one hand holding up your head, the other in front of you. and you lift your leg higher than your hip. then lower it. then higher it...etc. then after about 16 of those, you lift your leg a little, pause, lift your leg higher, and then lower all the way.
if done right, you will know, because it ACCTUALLY burns. i can't get through them and the rest of the video is a breeze.
that is why i run :laugh:0 -

I am completely awful at running.
I can't run for 5 minutes straight, but I still run
Run 1 minute , walk 2 was my start
after a long practise, i can run 2 walk 1...
using this method I can now do 3 miles (with a 5 minute break in between each mile)
so , I'm not good at running, but I go.
I use a tread mill ( at the gym) most of the time, or run in the local cemetery (early or late).0 -

I love biking do you think this could help??? :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:0 -
I second lunges, squats and burpees, you are focussed on one specific area. Start with 2 sets of 10 and build it up weekly.
Good luck

Hate to tell you, the reason running works is, it's cardio. You CANNOT spot reduce fat. No matter how many lunges and squats you do, the fat will stay on your thighs without a calorie deficit. With a deficit, the fat will leave the place your body wants it to, not the place you exercise the most. The thing you will gain from all those lunges and squats is more muscle mass which equals a greater ability to burn calories and better muscle definition when the fat does go away plus the a firmer perkier booty .
Here are some articles about spot reduction:

P.s. be glad that your body stores fat on your thighs. Abdominal fat has been linked to increased risk for insulin resistance/ type 2 diabetes as well as hormonal cancers (i.e. breast cancer).0 -

Totally agree but then I incorporate the burpees, squats, lunges in my training schedule which consists of doing an additional 90 min. of cardio. Which I should have said in my original message. I do apologise for giving false information, hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. :flowerforyou:0 -

Bikers have great legs!
And bums! We have pedi-cabs in SD (basically a two person seat that is pulled by a biker), those people have the most amazing legs and bums.0 -
Yep the running is working for me too0

Pilates is also a great choice. I would advise to be careful working your legs too much. Building muscle in your legs can make bigger muscles and keep bigger thighs. They'll be more toned...but not necessarily smaller. Not everyone's legs do this, but mine do. I can't bike because of it. (You probably already know if you build muscle easily or not.) I do a combo of running and pilates and it is the only thing I've found that works.0

I would say Plies are amazing for toning thighs. I tend to build big leg muscles. check out www.betterbodybasics.com.
t-tapp has excellent muscle lengthening, not building, exercises.
