Loss for words...
I know it really isn't related, but I live in AL, and just saw on my local news where a 9 year old girl died from being "run to death". She had apparently eaten a candy bar and collapsed in the yard after being made to run laps out there for three hours. I am literally here crying my eyes out and simply cannot even come up with words to describe my feelings...

Such a senseless loss... what in the world? In her yard at home?0

Oh my gosh... I just read a news article on it. So glad authorities have classified it as murder.0 -
I hope she is resting in peace. Tragedies like these should never ever happen, but the world just isn't fair. The only thing I can hope now is for the people responsible to be brought to justice; not only in the judicial sense, but I am a firm believer in Karma and I hope more than anything that they get what they deserve. I know it won't bring her back, but at least it is something.0

Was she forced to run these laps because of eating the candy bar? That was really an unnecessary punishment, if so. That's horrible that she was forced to push her body past its limit, that's basically torture.0

Yes, she was being punished for eating the candy bar. She was in her yard running laps. The grandma was the one that made her run, and her stepmom was there at the house as well. She was definitely tortured. She collapsed and started seizing (sp?) but it was too late. Both women were charged with murder. I still can't understand how anyone could ever do that to another human being, especially a child. Just had to get it off my chest I guess. Whew...0

This is exactly why I hardly ever watch the news anymore. I am truly heartbroken over so many of the stories, and just can't take it. I definitely don't live in a bubble, but the news really gets to be too much for me.0

My wife and I cannot have children without gross medical intervention that she finds physically and emotionally devastating. People abuse their children every day and nothing can be done about it. I just do not have the words to express the depths of my feelings of senseless loss and complete tragedy.0

I know. I am so devastated I can't even begin to say or write how I feel... my husband called to say he was on the way home, and I was bawling...0

Beyond words...:brokenheart:0

That poor little girl. I would never ever dream of even thinking of making my child do something so extreme...especially over a candy bar!!! Sounds like the grandmother and step mom have mental issues and perhaps even self-esteem issues.0

I have a precious 5 year old and 3 year old so when I read stories like these it truly breaks my heart because I look at the sweet faces of my two boys and wonder how in the world anyone could hurt or kill an innocent child. My mom always says there is a hotter hell for people like that and I truly believe it.0
