Well it depends on what your doing and how much you weigh, but I aim for 30 minutes of High Impact Cardio 5 times a week. I end up burning around 300 calories each time....

600-800 usually. Unless of course I'm hiking, where it can be all the way up to 2000+ calories.

I average about 600-700 per hour when running.

Strength training sucks for calorie burn (but great for your body!) so that's about 300 or so per hour.
  • I've only been burning about 200 calories per day working out for a half hour. I'd like to work out more, but I think I have athletes athsma :grumble: , which I'm going to try and see my doctor about next week.

depending on the time you work out, 400 to 600 calories for the more mid serious people.
  • I burn a minimum of 500 a day, but usually aim for between 800 and 1,000

I am really not sure because I don't have a HRM. But, from the looks of these other posts I think I am underestimating! If I do 20 minutes on the treadmill alternating walking 4.3 mph and jogging 6.7 mph, then stretch for about 10 minutes, and weight lifting for 30 minutes - - what would a good estimate be for my calories burned? I keep my heart rate up while lifting. I am 5'6.5" 23 years old and about 133 pounds.

(OP- not to jack your thread but it made me think!):flowerforyou:

DO YOU HAVE A HEART RATE MONITOR AND HAVE YOU BOUGHT A REPLACEMENT STRAP.

I INSTRUCT 5 SPIN CLASSES A WEEK, AND I HAVE SEEN MY HEART RATE COME DOWN OVER THE LAST 2 YEARS SIGNIFICANTLY. I REPLACED THE BAND AND SAW THE CALORIE COUNT WENT UP BUT YOU MAYBE OBTAINING A FITNESS LEVEL WITH A HIGHER RESTING HEART RATE.

I WOULD SAY ABOUT 600 TO 800 CALORIES, THIS IS A GREAT WORKOUT AND ONE THAT IS SIMILAR TO WHAT I GIVE MY MEMBERS.

Since it has gotten hot out, I've started doing all of my exercises in the morning before work. It means that I have to get up an hour earlier, but when I get home and I'm tired, it means I don't have to get on that elliptical.....lol.

I burn 400 calories for 45 minutes on the elliptical. I go for 55 minutes if I'm not too tired and get 500 calories.

And if it's not too hot out, then I go for my lunchtime walk for 45 minutes and burn another 197 calories.
