Which ones do u use? I've never had any, but I would like one to have as an in-between snack. Also, I read ppl drink them after workouts, not sure why? I want one that tastes decent too, otherwise, I won't drink it n just waste all that money. Any suggestions?

Protein shakes after workouts are supposed to help recover your muscles. I have them about once a day just to fill me up and they seem to make my body happy. Look for ones with less ingrediants and less sugar. I use six star from walmart, its cheap and doesn't taste bad and is only 150calories and 3g of sugar per serving. I mix it with milk, or ice and fruit in the blender.0 -
I prefer Optimum Nutrition.
There's research that shows short term increase in protein synthesis if you have an adequate supply of protein in your system within a short period of working out. The supplement industry likes you to believe that this window of time is about 30 minutes. There's also some (newer) research that suggests that this period of time is closer to 24+ hours, and there is additional research suggesting that pre-existing protein in your system (from the meal eaten before lifting) may provide an environment to maximize protein synthesis even in the absence of post workout protein. Lastly (going off the top of my head here) there's also research showing a supercompensatory response in the event that post workout protein ingestion is delayed.
The short answer to all the above crap is: Just have enough protein by the end of the day and don't worry about when you eat it.0 -
I put protein in my smoothies for breakfast and any other meal.
I use:
1 cup almond milk
1 cup organic frozen fruit
2 scoops protein powder (I use Prograde, chocolate)
1 tbsp flax seed
If I have one for breakfast I add:
1 packet powdered greens (I use Prograde Genesis)
I think they are delicious!0 -
I just ordered MRM - 100 All Natural Whey Rich Vanilla . I plan on having it with vanilla almond milk, water, or in my yogurt. I also bought those protein bottles to mix on the go. I'm horrible about eating something within 1 hr of waking up and right after lifting weights so I figured this will help me out a lot.0

I use mostly Optimum Nutrition All Natural (chocolate) but I also use Syntrax Nectar (cappuchino & also the strawberry mousse). Love them with unsweetened chocolate or vanilla almond milk.
Like to have protein throughout the day so I am not overly concerned with right after a workout but it often works out that way because I'm hungry and it's generally a meal time when I'm through at the gym.0 -
Protein shakes are absolutely essential to my diet. I train everyday so I take them after my workouts. You can mix with milk, water, juice.. add fruits if you want, etc. Theyre fun, yummy, and sometimes you can use them as a meal.
I use Promasil by Rivalus. So yummy!!0
