running vs P90X

I'm currently running 6 days a week 3 or 4 miles per day. While I am losing weight I would also like to tone up. My window of time each day to exercise is naptime. I don't want to give up running. Would I benefit from alternating days between the two or would I not get the benefits of P90X with skipping days?

I would do P90X 3 days a week (the strength training dvd's) and run 3-4 days a week.

So for example Chest and Back on Day 1, then run on Day 2, Shoulders and Arms on Day 3, run on day 4, etc....

    Hope this helps,

I do exactly that...alternate between running and P90X strength. On the days that I find I can't find it in me to run, I'll throw in P90X Intervals and give my body a shake up!
Enjoy! It's working for me. I've finally broken my 3 year plateau!

I run and started P90X three weeks ago. I usually run 5-6 days a week. I just can't do the yoga dvd (so. incredibly. boring) so I usually do a longer run on that day and shorter runs on the other days. I take one day off per week with no running and I usually skip the P90X stretch too.

I did P90X and it improved my running times by 1 minute per mile. I've gotten down another minute per mile or more from there. What it really did was fixed the imbalances that running had created. It was an enormous benefit. I'm currently doing P90X2 and really love it because it is mostly strength, balancing, and core work so I can do it AND run. I do it 5x per week, I run 3 and I bike 2. It's been very easy to incorporate into a training schedule.

I would do the same the others suggested and have done that in the past :) Do the strength workouts 2-3 times a week and run the others :)
