I have been trying really hard over this past week-even bought a treadmill. I check the scale almost daily (too much) to see if I'm making progress. Well, thanks to the wonders of being a woman I gained almost 4 lbs. I know this is all water rentention and will pass soon, but what a disappointment. Now I've got my normal pms crankiness, doubled.

At least you're recognizing that this isn't abnormal. Every woman on the planet retains water when she's premenstrual.
I feel like a rhino once a month.
Just keep at it, don't get discouraged, and for God's sake, DON'T CHECK THE SCALE DAILY!!!
That is a great way to go crazy and give up very quickly!!
Check it once every couple of weeks.
And remember, low sodium-high water in your diet!! The more sodium you can flush out of your system, the less water you will retain!0 -
It's temporary! It will pass and you may lose a few extra pounds when it's all over with! I wish I had an explanation for mine! I've been going varying in weight for the last three weeks by 4-5 pounds! I haven't been having my girly the whole time! Keep it up. Your loss will show up next week when the Visitor is gone!0

I think many women can relate.
During PMS time, if I eat too many salty foods I can retain nearly 10 lbs in just water. I feel like I'm going to completely explode during that time and everything hurts from it. Still, it is just water weight. I found cutting back salt intake helps.0 -
:flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: You shouldn't think of it as a disappointment, but just part of the cycle. Just keep doing what you have been and it will fluctuate back in about a week.0

You're so right about the scale. I think I'm becoming OCD about it. I know it's wrong, I just can't seem to stop. It's almost like I expect to hop on one morning and have lost all my weight. It does make me crazy. At least you're recognizing that this isn't abnormal. Every woman on the planet retains water when she's premenstrual.

And THAT is why we shouldn't weigh ourselves more than once a week!!! I know, easier said then done! I am really bad about it... but when I do notice a change... good or bad, I don't let it bug me unless it is the actual day I was supposed to weigh in.0

i've gained a couple of pounds too, but not for lack of trying. you need to put the scale away and only weigh yourself once a week, if even that. inches are much more important than the numbers on the scale. so as long as you're sticking to your plan, it'll all work out. just keep reminding yourself how well you're taking care of your body; mental and physical well being. hang in there and good luck!0

When a scale shows a gain, it's obviously faulty.
