Anxious Eating

I have been doing extremely well with staying within my calorie limit, but tonight my anxiety and stress have been on over drive and I over ate 800+ calories And all that has done is made me feel even worse.
Does anyone have any good tricks to stop themselves from emotional eating? I thought perhaps I was stressed because I felt a little hungry but I'm super full and still feel anxious. Just one of those days.

A punching bag actually sounds like a great idea. I really ought to take a walk, that is a good idea. I just become such a homebody at night time... gotta break free of that. Thanks for the support.0

Do you have a place that makes you feel at ease? For me I head out to the woods and walk the trails. Something about being in nature helps me destress, even when it's the middle of winter in the midwest. Just breathing the fresh air, listening to the trees sway settles me. For some people it's listening to music or yoga. Reading is a great mind distraction. If I'm angry or agitated I have a punching bag and will do a Kenpo workout. Kicking and punching drills seems to help that mood! Anything that moves the mind from the negative space it's in, through distraction, physical expression or walking meditation works for me. Hope you start feeling better!0

It's hard for me to break free from wanting to curl up in a comfortable ball on my couch and indulge when I am feeling really bad. I feel almost frozen to want to get up and do anything. I think I really need to work on my self talk and push myself to get up and do something, heck even playing a little wii fit would probably get me out of a funk.
I think I'll go get a punching bag sometime soon too now that you both mention it, that seems like an excellent way to release tension.0 -
