My scale played an April Fools joke on me

So I weighed in yesterday and I got a 184. I was mad. REALLY mad. I just knew that could not possibly be right. I stepped on it probably 4-5 times and it kept giving me the exact same number. (I've had it before where I step on it twice and it give me some ridiculous number and then i step on it a 3rd time starting with the opposite foot first and pop, new number, stupid scale)
So I went to the gym last night and it was just really really bothering me. So I got on the scale they have there which is one of those ones they have at the doctor and it was something like 181 and a half (or around there, hard to tell exact with those ones). And that was at like 7:00 pm after a full day of eating and drinking and retaining water.
So I'm throwing my scale out. And in exactly one month from yesterday (because that was the deal I made myself, one month, no weigh.) I'm going to weigh in using the gyms scale. Cuz that's just bogus.
So I'm changing all my weigh-in's from yesterday cuz I'm mad darn it! :explode:

I can totally relate. When I first decided to lose weight back in June 2007, I stepped on the scale to see what my starting weight was and was pleasently surprised to see 240. You have to understand that the last time I had weighed myself was over a year and a half before and at that time I was 237. Over the year and a half I had gotten a desk job so I was surprised I had only gained 3 extra pounds. Anyways, I started to watch my diet and began to lose weight. According to my scale I was down like 10 pounds in 2 weeks and I was really happy. Then I weighed myself at my mother in law's and the scale said like 255! At first I just ignore it and went with the smaller number but it became apparent everytime I used a scale other than my home one that my starting weight was higher than 240. So I threw out that scale and bought a new one. However, by that time I had been losing weight, so I don't really know for sure now what my starting weight was. I just use 250. Now 10 months later, according to my new scale and the scale at the gym I am 198. I still have a long way to go but I am getting there. However, I have learnt not to trust the scale, after all weight will fluctuate throughout a day or even a week regardless of how well you are eating and working out. I try to concentrate on how I feel, how my clothes look and the new muscles slowing showing up that I didn't know I had0

Doctor's scales always say more.... although I don't want to believe it, I think they are the more accurate ones :grumble:0

I refuse to weigh myself.....I know "about" how much I weigh.........and I'm afraid that if I see a number I don't like or even that the numbers dont change when I know I'm sticking to my diet , I'll get discouraged. Fact...I feel better today. my clothes fit better and I swear my pinkie finger is actually skinny!!! Just kidding...I know if I stick to eating right and excersising I will lose weight and I don't need a scale to tell me....the mirror works just fine.....0

You also have to keep in mind when you are at the doctor you are fully clothed, have on shoes, and usually is later in the day when you have consumed food and/or water. I don't know about you, but I weigh myself first thing in the am before consuming ANYTHING and wear close to nothing!0
