Hey guys,

My boyfriends birthday is coming up soon. We have been together for 4 years. I have no idea what to get him, and not only that, i literally have zero dollars. I am living with my dad right now, and I used my last pay checks to pay for my education. I quit my job to be in school fulltime.

What are some great present ideas that cost next to nothing or that I can make. Something truly from the heart. It has to stand up to the bass i bought him last year!

The only things I have thought of:

a cd with like one track with me singing a song on it to him...i know you can rent studios for cheapish and do it there
a painting...though i don't paint, so it is kinda not so special?
i used to write poetry all the time, so i don't know what i could do with that

anyways...that is about it. i am totally stumped. Anyone help would be greatly appreciated. I have one month!

I would say give him a really special day with stuff you already have...breakfast in bed, give him the remote all day, a massage, 'color' with him, play a sport or video game that he likes...basically spoil him like a little kid all day.

how about making a coupon book with things like

    Making him dinner
    Washing his car
A night where he controls the remote
Renting a movie of his choice
    A back rub
    etc. etc.

basically stuff that you will do for him that is relatively inexpensive. Good luck

I don't know if you have a sewing machine but I sew really nice pillows all the time! Just recently I made some fancy, designer pillows for a bench in my house. I also made some adorable, child print pillows with ruffles on the edges and the kids' names on the front of them, for the kids I babysit. You could make your boyfriend a really special (manly) pillow, (or pillows) to go with his room. I actually made a couple for my boyfriend and helped my friend karen make one for her boyfriend and before we sewed them up we cut out a heart with fabric and wrote "i love you" inside and put it inside the pillow.

Also, you could buy a really nice picture frame and put a pretty picture of you and him in it.

Or, bake him his favorite treat.

These are just a few ideas I have when i have no money!

I am sure he would LOVE that, I know my boyfriend would:smile:

I love all the other suggestions :) Another option if you a decent music collection would be to make him mix CD's. You could make a variety....road mix, songs for both of you, his favorite songs, etc. I have a bunch of mix CD'S on my iPod that friends made for me over the years & I love them. The only real cost is the blank CD's and of course your time :)

When all else fails, I know my husband appreciates a homemade card, his favorite meal and a yummy baked treat.

I have been in a similar situation. I know my hubby is happy with just about anything I give him. But really the easiest, cheapest and perhaps most enjoyable gifts relate to 2 parts of his anatomy -- one being his stomach.

.... I hope I don't get this thread locked for saying that!

After 4 years together, with you living with your father, in school full time and no income, I think he would appreciate a homemade card and a favorite dinner. If he doesn't, well that is a different topic completely.

he's a guy..I don't think he really cares and would prefer something....ummmmm.....of a sexual nature
Maybe lingerie for you or little cards with notes written on them like 'free massage' etc

If i knew you were going to read my response, I wouldn't have posted it :grumble:
Just tell the poster I am right and move on
  • So I just had teh same problem with my boyfriend and what I ended up doing was making a slideshow DVD. I just used all different pictures of us from the last few years and the ones with him and his friends and put songs that remind him of things in the background. He absolutely loved it.
