I don't normally log exercise calories for cleaning house, BUT......I've been so busy I haven't had time to do my daily cleaning. When I got home, I cleaned up. Picked up kids toys, vacuumed, swept, mopped, did dishes, wiped down counter tops, cleaned out refrigerator, cleaned bathroom....I literally was moving non stop for about 2 1/2 hours. Do you think I should log it?

I would, maybe as just minor housework. but it still counts.!!!0

I would. When my house cleaning involves numerous trips up and down the stairs in our house ... you better believe I log it!0
-
I would too. I log mine everyday, not many calories but it still adds all up0
-
I decided to add it but only logged 1.5 hours instead of the full 2.5 hours. I feel wired about logging house cleaning as an exercise. Lol0
-
I have a friend on here that logs hers every day. Hey, if you work up a sweat, I say go ahead and count it.0
-
I never log things like this. It's just part of daily life.0
-
I did it once in the past twenty days; it was the day I didn't exercise at all and threw a dinner party:) So that made me feel better.0
-
I wouldn't, I consider that a regular part of the day where exercise is something I set time aside to do.0
-
I wouldn't log it.0

I never log it either. You need to get your heart rate in the fat burning zone and keep it steadily there for the max fat burning. Lots of stops and slows in house cleaning.0
-
I don't normally. And I don't always clean everyday. But I didn't go to the gym today so that I could actually clean. I feel you're burning calories if you're moving. And I was moving. A LOT. Lol. If I hadn't swept, mopped and vacuumed I probably wouldn't have logged it. I have a pretty big house so there's a lot if tile and carpet.0

I Only log cleaning if I work up a sweat and tire my muscles - floor stripping, scrubbing, lugging things around...
I never log walking my dog either, or walking to the grocery store - that's just stuff I do every day and I feel it's included in my fairly active lifestyle...0 -

I don't own a HRM. I have been looking into it though. I'm really not sure of the calories MFP gives for exercises. They seem high but IDK. Looking into a body media. My turbo kick instructor has one and loves it.0 -
I usually log it. Especially if its laundry day where Im back and forth from the laundry room and lifting and up and down and up and down. I'm an infrequent cleaner so when it happens its a major day.0

Consider it getting ahead. I wouldn't bother logging it. Chances are you've underestimated or had a slip up along the way. Is that fair to say?0

Good question. I clean motels for work, and can be on the go for up to 5 hours some days. I never know whether to log it or not???0
-
That's one reason I love my FitBit. I don't have to figure out how many more calories I might be consuming by doing extra housework or grocery shopping, the FitBit logs it automatically.0
-
I would not log it, but if I went over my goal I would not worry about that either.0
-
Absolutely I lost a lot of weight when I went on a 2 week cleaning bender. As long as you keep purposely moving especially up and downstairs count it.0

those calories should be reflected in your activity level... you would have chosen "moderately active" or something similar so that you get more cals per day to balance that out0 -
It depends on your settings. If you have sedentary, then I would. I have mine as moderately active, so I wouldn't because it is already factored in.0

I don't log that type of activity and with a house of 7, I do a lot of it LOL, If something is out of the normal, like the past two days I have been painting and moving furniture, ripping out wood and sanding ceilings... I do count that.0
-
I log anything I don't do every day. ie, not the daily dishes but yes if I spend 30 minutes on my hands and knees scrubbing the floor (which, believe me, doesn't happen very often).0

Suggestion: if you continue to log cleaning and you reach your weekly weight loss goals then continue to log. If you stall for more than 2 weeks cut back on logging it.0 -
I only log cleaning when it is something out the ordinary and not part of my regular routine. Same thing with walking my dog...I only log the really long walks.0
-
Na, don't log it. I only log moderate and heavy work outs. I calculate the intensity based on my heart rate. If it's within those 'moderate' or 'intensity' zones then I count it. Otherwise it's consider physical movement which is normal daily activity.0

I would, any major housework like spring cleaning, anything not in " normal limits" I log. I look at this way, if I know I'm going to feel it the next day, I log it. I don't log bringing in wood to the wood box but I log in chopping wood because I know I'll feel those muscles the next day.0
