Anybody here have very large calves before they lost alot of weight? How do your legs look now? My calves are so big around I feel like they will never get smaller. I think they are 17" around.

ugh i feel the same way!!! mine are 15" and for some reason are the LAST part of my body to get smaller. someone help us!!0
-
wow, i have the opposite problem, none, well, very small0
-
Mine were 19.5" when I started (or at least the first time I measured, which might not have been right away), they are just under 15" now - I have sturdy legs, but my calves are pretty much all muscle at this point.0

I've been as small as a size 4 (in my early 20's before I had my daughter), but have always had bigger legs. My thighs are significantly bigger now with my weight gain, but my calves are about the same (I still fit into the same boots as I did before). I guess some of us are just built this way?0

I want to know too. I want to know if I will ever be able to wear cowboy boots!0
-
Gosh, I feel ENORMOUS in comparison! lol Last time I measured, my calves were like 21 inches. I PRAY they get smaller, I'd like to wear boots in the winter eventually! :P0

My calves are HUGE as are my legs in general. Even when my weight has dropped 20+lbs my legs are still...thick. Honestly, my calves are 17/18" and have been bigger than every guy I've dated (*sadness*)
I don't know how to "thin" down my legs, even with running, strength training, fitness classes, and personal training - so any advice would be greatly appreciated!0 -
i use to not be able to find zip up boots to fit because my calves where to big but now they fit perfect, so yes it is definitely possible and good luck to you all out there trying.. :-)0
-
I have large thighs. They started at 26.4in and after losing almost 63lbs they're down to 23.6in. I've just started running and lifting heavy weights so I'm hoping they will start to go down.
My calves are looking FANTASTIC though.0 -
i've been told that running helps legs to thin out but so far i haven't been having any luck0

I had a foot and ankle surgeon comment on my muscular calves. He said calf size is mostly genetic and that it is difficult for people with scrawny calves to build them or for people with larger calves to shrink them. That being said, when I lost weight previously my calves did shrink a few inches due to fat loss and toning. Best of luck to you, and be proud of your muscular legs!0

My legs have always been large, however I'm really tall and have a large frame. My thighs right now are at about 22", and they usually stay around there. My calfs aren't huge, but they are tiny, either. I can never get them to go down, but I've came to the conclusion that is just how I am...no matter how much I diet.0

I cant find any cute fashionable boots that zip up either:( I hope my legs get smaller in time for summer. I am running everynight, and weight lifing as well. Im so afraid to build the muscle in my legs instead of getting rid of the fat.
Thanks for the motivation:)0 -

I your profile picture so much! I only learned about the yoga name of this position two days ago and so this is just hilarious to me.0 -
Mine were 18" and they're down to 15.5"... pretty sure unless I quit running, walking, cycling, lifting etc they're pretty much as small as they're gonna get. The good news is that they're REALLY cut and regular boots zip now! :bigsmile:0

Very true; I have always have had larger ones; currently 16.5. Had some issues with them when I was younger but not anymore. One friend of mine is super fit and has basically nothing in the calves so he's planning to put implants... And I have also realized that many men like curvier legs... Me too - man with very skinny calves is very turn off for me!!!0 -
14.5' calves at 114. The exact same size when I was at my highest weight of 125 lbs. So far, losing weight has had no effect and I'm concerned about how disproportionate I'm going to look when I get to 105 lbs.0

Try swimming or pilates! Some exercises overuse the calves and will lead to bulking while swimming and pilates generally work the smaller muscle groups.0

I like this article.
I have huge calves as well. At this point, they are mostly muscle; so I am not sure I can get them any smaller. O well, as long as I am healthy.0 -
My calves r 16.5 and thighs r 25. Plus I have the flattest butt around. I am pretty short 5' 3" and have a longer torso so a good thing is that when I loose weight, it comes off my waist first then my thighs.
I used to hate my legs, even when I am super skinny, I didn't wear shorts often but as I get older and realize there is no changing genetics, I owe them! I actually love toning them up. They are curvy. I can't wait to loose these extra pounds so I feel comfortable wearing dresses/ shorts.
A note though, I have been doing insanity for 3 weeks, the other day my boots zipped up a lot easier. It was the best feeling ever.
So my advise. Don't be afraid to tone those babies up and be the best u that u can be!0 -
My calves are 18" they literally are like baby cows ! I am eating healthily and swimming and exercising but my enormous legs are sooo big and heavy I don't seem to be making any progress , I've lost just a few pounds in a matter of weeks. It is so disheartening and frustrating. The guy at the gym said its waaaay easier to lose weight from a top heavy body then a leg heavy body . He said to lose weight from your legs is really difficult and timely. he said the more you work the more you turn the fat to muscle So still big still heavy ..So anyone had any real success ? Any tips ? Bec x0

I hat my legs in general because I have skinny calves of 14 inches and thighs of 23.5! I feel like my legs are not in proportion and my arms/forearms are similar. I have never had big calves so I've been lucky that if I cover my thighs I skirts or dresses my legs look thinner than they are. I'm trying to lose 25 more pounds so I hope my thighs get smaller.0

Mine have lost 2" in 44lbs
But I'll always have shapely legs ...and I'm happy with that0 -
For the first time in 30 years, this is the first winter I was able to buy boots that come up to my knees.0
-
Still thick. Learn to love them!0

My calves are huge, no matter what size I am. Even the 'wide shaft' boots don't fit me. Wide shaft.....I gave myself the giggles0
-
I'll be honest, my calves haven't slimmed at all after almost 60lbs lost but they are pretty solid muscle now from lots of walking.0
