Ok, I'm done with the guessing game. I need a HRM. I just need to bite the bullet and get it. I need to be able to do a workout and my HRM tell me exactly what I burned. What do you have?? Spending 250 on a HRM is a little out of my budget......ok A LOT out of budget. I've been eyeing the Polar HRM. Your thoughts? Please help......

I ended up with the {PolarFT7}. Owned for a month now, with no problems or complaints, once I figured out how to use it.0

I own a Polar brand HRM too and I love it, you really can't go wrong with the brand but you just need to figure out what kinds of bells/whistles you want on it.0

Polar is awesome.. Look at the FT4, FT7, FT40 and FT60.. and once you decide, buy from Amazon.. it's a lot cheaper.0

The search feature will be your best friend. There's a 99% chance that any question YOU have, someone else has had and posted :-)
HRM is a big topic. Polar seems to be very popular, but as NBEric said - it all comes down to the bells and whistles :-)0 -
Garmin forerunner 305, love it. It goes on sale a lot. I got it @Christmas time 10' for $110.0

I got mine HRM from www.bodytronics.com...........I ordered the Polar FT7 and should be here Monday.0

I also use the FT7 and have had it about a year and a half now. Originally i thought the function of knowing wheather you're in the fat burning zone or fitness zone would be useful, but in fact I spend 90%of my workout in the fitness zone. Otherwise, Its comfortable to use, accurate and a great tool for gauging your performance/weight loss goals. Oh yea, Polar is a good choice because most machines at the gym will synch with a polar watch. That way you can monitor your heart rate just by looking at the machine and not your wrist every few miniutes.0

I bought mine from Bodytronics.com too!!! Cheapest prices around I have found, even cheaper than Amazon!!! I got the Polar FT4, for under $60...............good choice if you just want basic HR and calories burned!!! Love it!!!0 -
I just researched this myself.
I found them cheapest on bodytronics too.
I impulsed bought the Polar FT4 at Target and it was $93. Then came home and shopped around. It is $30 cheaper online so returned it.
Now to wait for it to arrive.
I went with the FT4 versus FT7 because the watch was slightly smaller and I don't need to upload to the computer or store 100 exercise. I will just take the data and use my cal burn for that day. And check on my HR during my runs.0 -
I've been wanting a HRM for over a year since I've been on MFP. After a lot of researching, I ended up with the Mio Motiva. I refuse to pay for a Polar- family of 5 here! I've asked other members questions about their HRM and got great advice. My first choice was the New Balance Pearl..I was told it was a lot like the FT4- this was coming from owners of Polar HRMs. Then, I got thinking about the chest strap and how I probably wouldn't wear it as much because of it. Asked a few members about the Motiva and I found a link on Youtube and decided to go with that. The HRM seems pretty accurate to me and I think it's really cute. Found it on Ebay for $35 (retail was $99.00)

I actually bought the Mio Motiva Pink.0 -
I bought the Polar FT4. It's WONDERFUL!!! Thanks everyone!0

A basic HRM would be a Polar FT4, Polar is a Finnish company and there HRMs are considered top of the line. Buy from bodytronics.com and use promo code POPO. Will be a little less than $60.0

Polar is the best brand on the market!! I love my polar f6...:)
Whatever you decide to go with, make sure it has a chest strap, those are the accurate ones...0
