:ohwell: I work full time in an office and was just wondering how everyone else stays active. You can only clean/sweep so many times. I work 9-6 5 days a week so I try to make up for it my two days off. Any at work suggestions?!

Hi, I can only suggest simple replacements . If you drive to work , park two streets away and walk the rest. If you take the lift , use the stairs, if someone needs something from the supply cuboard, offer to get it, walk round the building on your lunch break , put ankle weights on under your desk and keep your legs moving, do regular coffee rounds for everyone else even if you are only having water , it will get you on your feet. when you go to the loo, walk up and down some stairs quickly once. You might look like you've got antz in ur pantz , but most people probibly won't even notice and if they do just think you are being kind xx0

Thanks for the advise! It is a tiny office, but I can park far away and spend my half hour lunch break walking around the property!!0

I'll do some squats and toe lifts every now and then! You can work some smaller exercises into your day. I agree about parking farther away or using the stairs instead if an elevator (if you have floors)0

I bring my shoes, warm mittens, hats, etc and go for a walk on my lunch break. I go the route that has the biggest hill and i walk for the entire hour then eat at my desk. Only time i don't walk is if it is raining or snowing. I really look forward to my walks, the fresh air is invigorating and the exercise makes me feel so much better after sitting all day.
I car pool (live about 25 mile from work) and in the summer i will bring my bike and bike home some days.
Also, sometimes if i am the only one in the bathroom i will do squats or lunges. I will pick one for the day and do that every time i use the restroom.0 -
OMG I live about 4 miles from work I definitely want to bike when it gets a bit warmer out!!0

Find a close by Gym or fitness studio and sign up for lunch time classes.
Luckily I work at a college and we have our own fitness centre. I take 3 classes a week over my lunch break. Body Sculpt and Abs, Yoga, and Zumba.
If you office has stairs, you can climb stairs at lunch or on your breaks, find little things like not taking the elevator, using the stairs instead, walking to the farthest bathroom location when you get \up instead of the closest, and force yourself to leave the desk for your break times, walk around the block during that time.
I almost never leave my seat all day except to go get my tea in the morning, We have to force ourselves to take those breaks.
if you cant remember to, make yourself a little event reminder on your Outlook Calendar which will remind you to get up and move!
Good luck!0
