New to MFP, hopefully this will keep me in shape

Hi everyone,
I'm roughly 5'11 and 160 lbs, despite having lifted for a substantial amount of time.
I found myself always cutting and consuming too few cals, and then being able to eat 6000 calories for a few days to recover and becoming obese and getting nowhere.
I ended up becoming 220 lbs doing permanent damage to myself with growth of new fat cells.
I'm hoping MFP can help me stay on the right track
I'll be consuming a deficit until the summer to get to 8% bodyfat and then, for the first time in my life, bulk properly on +250 cals (or 500) surplus, and track everything that I do.
I've been failing my goals for far too long and it's time to get serious.
I am hoping to meet some like minded people on this website and wish everyone as well as myself the best of luck.
