One thing always failed me:
After I had a big cheat meal, i usualy gave up. and my diets never lasted more than 1 month.
If i kept losing 1lbs per week from 1 year ago, i would be ripped 7% bodyfat already.
But i always gave up, but not this time.
I dont care if i overeat sometimes. in the longrun im still gonna lose weight.0 -
Be consistent. Don't make excuses when it comes to exercise and of course make better choices food wise. You can't just work out and eat bad or not work out and just 'diet'.
Good luck! I know that seems like common sense stuff but my biggest advice is to be consistent.0 -
If you "whoever reads it" opens my diary, and look at today and yesterday. You will see 4000cal and 2500cal days.
I feel sooooo much fuller on 2500 diet. Its all about quality of food you eat.0 -
ya..dont diet..eat healthy, watch your calories. whole grains, fruits, veg, legumes..
moderate exercise, lift weights to maintain muscle mass (so you wont be skinny fat when you lose body fat). dont drastically reduce calories, as this will make you more prone to losing muscle mass. there is no such thing as starvation mode, the 1200 cal thing is a myth too. educate yourself from scientific journals, not what random people on mfp say. (even me..learn yourself). remember most stuff on here is just rehashed what they heard someone else say...
there is no magic pill or trick to make you lose weight. eat the most nutrient dense foods you can. vary your diet, dont eat the same stuff everyday.0 -

One important thing is to not eat less than 1200, i tried it, and it is not sustainable for longer than 2 weeks.0 -
I agree with Yevgheniy, not letting one bad meal or bad day derail you is key. I used to give up after one bad meal or one bad day. Now I forget the guilt, and keep going. If you adopt that attitude, in the long run, you will lose weight.
With exercise: do something you enjoy. I watch TV on my netflix while I do workout dvds on mute. It motivates me, so I keep doing it. Find something that motivates you in terms of exercise.
Also: it does get easier. The first 3 or so weeks are tough but then it becomes much more habitual.
Good luck!0 -
Whats helping me, is eating towards my daily calorie limit...working out and never eating back the calories I burned..seems a decent amount on here do from reading other threads, but I don't.0
