slow progress...stuck at a plateau

I've been using MFP since the beginning of jan. I've only lost 7.4 lbs and I feel my progress is very slow and non existent at times. As of last week..Monday..I've hit a plateau. I don't know what to do. I'm stuck and its really discouraging. I'm also not using all my calories, I only use 1000 sometimes less. Could this be why or should I just amp up my workouts?

Everyone is going to tell you to open your diary so I'll say it too :-)
I was stuck on a plateau for months, increased my protein (a lot!) and started using heavier weights and I started losing again. That was Tuesday and I'm down 3lbs already.0 -

Probably eat more 1000 isn't even enough for your body to function correctly.0

You need to eat more. I was eating between 1000-1100 calories and was stuck for 2 weeks. I started eating the 1250 MFP said and eating back 90% of my exercise calories and BAM down 2 LBs !! Eat more !!!!!! :noway:

I am a victim of a 2000 calorie deficit.
Went from 210lbs to 195lbs
after I quit VLCD i went to pigout in restaurant and now i am 200lbs
It works short term. Is very unhealthy.
Dont do LCD diet.0 -

You have been on for 2 months and 7.4 pounds is a great loss!! Congratulations! Your body works in starvation mode when you eat too little. Try to eat at least 1200 calories and if you workout eat some of those calories back too, enjoy the journey.0

what worked for me was to eat all my calories including my exercise calories AND keeping away from all processed foods. I kept my carbohydrates under 100 grams and made sure to get enough fat - yes fat! It satisfies you and keeps you from wanting to mindlessly snack.

Ok wait. You've lost 7.4 pounds since Jan 1. That's nearly 1 pound a week. (Same as I've lost). How is that non-existent loss? Also, a plateau is not a week or two. It's a couple of months...THEN you start tweaking.
Weight loss does not happen on a schedule. Just because you have a 3500 calorie deficit as of Sunday does not mean you are automatically down 1 pound on Monday at 12:01 am. Your body may let loose of that fat in a couple of days, a week, or even two/three weeks. Then, you may suddenly drop 2-3 or more pounds all at once.
You do need to fuel your body adequately while still eating at a deficit, get enough rest, and then relax. You have plenty of time before you need to start worrying.0 -
7.4 pounds loss in 7 weeks doesn't sound slow to me. That said, if you've been consistently eating under your recommended calories, and you're not eating your exercise calories back, it's certainly long enough for your body's metabolism to have slowed down. Eat healthy, and eat your recommended calories.0

drink water
7pounds is steady and just right for it only being Feb.
eat back some of those calories if you're hungry
having a big deficit, yes you can lose, WATER WEIGHT AND MUSCLE, have at it if that's your goal
otherwise be smart about it

Have you measured yourself? The scale didn't move for me, but when I measured myself I was excited to find out I was down a couple of inches.0

I never did before but I did the other day and I'm. Gonna wait a few more days and measure myself again. I noticed before I wasn't losing lbs but inches and I could feel it in my clothes so I wasn't completely bummed. I at least know I'm moving in the right direction.

I feel much better reading the comments. I actually looked at the last time I weighed in and it was the 16th..so only 10 days without losing again, I guess isn't as bad as I thought it to be. I'm just trying really hard and expected better results. Thanks again.0
