Do you work out extra before you eat out?

Going out with wife and friends tonight. I absolutely KNOW I am getting a Cajun Pasta dish...rich.creamy..loaded with calories. Yummmm. A treat! I think I will run an extra 30 minutes yet, before I go out, in addition to having done an Insanity earlier today.

Do you pre-burn calories too?

Yes, but I generally work out to eat more daily and have little calorie burn goals that I set myself for when I do exercise.

No, because this actually increases hunger. Activity raises your TEE. This is one of the worst things you can. If you plan on eating out later, save your calories for the event.

For some reason I must admit I do! If there is a get together at the end of the week I find myself pressing the exercise more than usual!

    Nope.

To me, having a day where I'm over because I thoroughly enjoyed a meal doesn't mean I have to work out harder or whatever. One day over isn't going to undo all my hard work, so it isn't that important to me. Perhaps I view it differently because I have injuries that still flare up when I workout too long or too hard. Perhaps it is because I'm in maintenance and have been for 18+ months. I don't know, but I don't go to the gym and kill myself simply to eat more. One day won't hurt me. :)

Most of the time, if I know I'll be eating out, I'll try to get in some extra calorie burn. For example, since I usually go to Jazzercise after work, I'll add a long walk at lunch if i know I'm dining out that evening.
Weekends are easier to rack up the calories. I had Friday off so I did an hour of Jazzercise in the morning and after lunch I did weight training, Tai Chi and swimming, (then I took a Nap!).
I also plan my entire day of meals in advance, if possible, when I know I'll be eating out. Parties are a wildcard, since I never know what will be offered. For parties I rack up some extra calories and just enjoy myself. If I go over, so what, it's just one day.

I havnt really ran into this problem too much yet, but tomorrow I am going out and I am going to eat a big delicious meal! today I am trying to work out extra but nothing crazy though. I know one day isnt going to mess me up too much, but it just makes me feel less guilty by exercising a little more today!

It doesn't increase hunger for everyone, I'm never hungry after exercising. And I always pre choose what I want to eat when I go out, so even if I was hungry, I already know what I'm eating anyway and I generally plan to eat the entire meal, so my hunger would be gone by the end.

If I know there's a dinner out coming, I'll save a *few* calories up for it over the course of the day, and try to burn a few extra toward it as well.

It raises your TEE. That's a scientific fact. So, you're inclined to eat more.

I usually don't know how many calories I'm going to eat before I leave the house, so when I come home, I enter my food, then find out how long I need to workout.

I tend to work out beforehand as that way feel ive earnt the treat, otherwise can so easily put off the extra workout and have consumed the extra calories

Totally. I actually work out a lot harder when I know that I can pig out some later on, haha. Food is my motivation, I'm not gonna lie. :D

I wasn't saying that wasn't true, I was saying that exercise doesn't have an impact on how much I eat. It might for some people, but not really for me. I sometimes have to force myself to eat more after exercise because I just don't want food. The only reason I workout before I go to a restaurant is that their meals have the same volume I'd eat normally, they've just crammed more calories into them.
