If you are unsure, why not try having a NET of 1200 and if it's not enough, up it to 1300, etc, etc.

It's your body so only you know what is best for you.

(2lbs usually does put you at 1200 NET)
  • I'm a 5'6, 24 years old and I stick to my 1200 calories per day. But, I am also one of those people who do not eat back my exercise calories. :) Since we are close in age/height, feel free to add me for support/questions! :)
  • Ive never counted calories before so how would I know if it's right?! How long should I give it?

Two pounds a week might be a bit too ambitious. I know no one wants to hear that, but assuming a goal weight of 130# (dead center of a healthy range for your height), that's 60 pounds. Two pounds a week is best for those with more than 75 pounds to lose. A pound and a half would be better for now, changing to one pound a week as you get closer to your goal, then a half pound a week when you're within 10-15 pounds of your goal.

That said, your NET should be as close as possible to your goal. If your goal is 1200, your net should be 1200.
  • Well, I have been doing this since Jan 26th and I've lost 12 lbs (as of Thursday). If you are eating healthy, changing your habits, exercising, etc, you should see some change! They say "healthy" weight loss is 1-2 lbs a week. Everyone's body is different.

I'm 5ft9, started at 207lbs, I aim to be 149lbs (in the middle for a healthy BMI) and my current weight is 185lbs. I have been eating 1200 since Jan 2nd, I eat bach my exercise calories if I am hungry and not unless.

I would say give it a week at 1200, if it's not right for you try a week at 1300.

Forget what anybody else does, listen to your own body and work with with it wants.
