One Mile 5 times or 5 miles one time?

Looking for input from experienced run/walkers. Is it any more or less advantageous for the weight loss metabolism to do 5 one mile jaunts vs one long 5 mile?

For weight loss it probably doesn't matter. For building fitness, the 5 mile run would be better if your current fitness level allows it.0

I definitely feel like it's a better workout when I do 5 miles at one time, but may not matter either way. I look forward to seeing what others have to say on this topic.0

They are both good, but are usually for doing different things. For example you could run each mile for a total of five at your "fast" pace w/breaks in between or run one five miler at your normal pace and the calories spent would probably be fairly equivalent.
However, the shorter runs are better for speed training while the longer run will train you for endurance? In the end I'd choose whichever one feels better to you.0 -

No, they both burn calories. However, it is a good idea to change your training around, so for one session you could run the five miles in one go and then the next session you could do the 5 x 1 mile with a recovery period of walking between each mile.0
