i've been on a hummus kick these past few days and i love it!!!! (thanks to tam  )

today, i took one can of plain hummus from the local arabic store, mixed it with 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, and a dash of cumin. Dipped carrots and celery in it and it was fantastic :smooched:

plain hummus alone is only 35 cals for two tablespoons.

just thought i should share, especially for those of you still haven't tried it.

its also fantastic on sandwiches in the place of sauces and condiments.

I have just discovered using hummus in place of mayo for egg salad. YUM! Just don't go into it thinking it will taste like mayo. It has itsown flavor, but fits well with hardboiled eggs.

  • Oh yes, hummus is very very good. I like the roasted garlic with crackers and roasted red peppers with veggies! Very very good!

I wrap it in a whole wheat tortilla with a little havarti cheese-- a modification of a recipe Tam posted (she used avocados instead of eggs--also awesome). Someday, I'm going to put them all together, eggs, avocado, hummus, & havarti. Just haven't gotten around to it yet.
