People who have lost weight by eating a bit more

Hello everyone,
I've been really frustrated the last month with the scales not moving so I've been looking around the boards for advice and a common suggestion is that people aren't eating enough. I think this could possibly apply to me so for March I'll take the plunge and give it a go.
However, obviously it feels very counter-intuitive and I'm quite nervous about it. Can anyone be kind enough to reassure me with tales of success they've had with the scales moving once they eat a bit more?
Thanks!
And for reference:
Average calories - 1450
Average net - 1200
Height - 5ft 7
Start weight - 196
Current weight - 188
Lost 7lbs in January
Lost 1lb in February (arg!)

For the fist month or two I ate 1400 net daily (at least, my goal was 1600).
Now I aim for 1600 net daily (with a goal of 1700).
As long as your goals are under maintenance, you will lose. My maintenance is 2000, eating at 1600-1800 I lose between 0.5-1.5kgs a week regularly and have lost 18kgs so far.
EDIT: PLUS I am never hungry & usually have enough calories to have chocolate, ice cream, maccas whenever I want & still be within my macros.0 -
It definitely may seem weird, but it has worked for me. I read a lot of articles about boosting metabolism and weight loss....but I'm not an expert by any means.
I started last July and have been consistently eating between 1800-2300 calories a day. I generally net between 1600-1800. While doing this, I lost over 30 lbs. I'm only 5'5" but to be honest, I really can't survive on less than 1500 calories on a regular basis....without wanting to scream at random people and/or crying myself to sleep. (Neither of those things happened, but when I first started, I was pacing and telling my husband how hungry I was....because MFP had given me like 1370 or something and even with the exercise calories, eating 1600 wasn't enough when I first started.)
I'm close to final goal weight (7-10 lbs, not sure), so I'm eating maintenance calories some days now (net 1920) and less on others (net 1750). Some days I go over. I figure it's okay. I'll get there, hopefully, by July. I hit my original goal weight last November after losing 25 lbs).
Part of the trick - at least for me - was making sure to eat small meals throughout the day. It boosts metabolism....so I generally eat like 5-6 meals a day. Sometimes a meal is like a banana and an orange. Sometimes it's a huge salad with chicken - or a boatload of stir fry veggies.
Not sure if this was helpful, but if it was and you'd like to be friends, just send me a request. If not, no worries...
Good luck on your journey!0 -
Thank you so much for replying everyone, I'm going to go for it, really hope it helps get the scales moving, plus I wouldn't complain at being able to eat a bit more!0
