Feeling really low at the moment, not sure why. My weight loss has been going fine.
Ive been looking at alot of before and after pics from people on here and they are fab....then i look at mine and i cant believe how fat i look.
I feel like im kidding myself whenever i feel good, i have felt so much 'slimmer' after losing 15lbs, buti realise im not slim atall.
Im not giving up but i dont feel great

  • awww love I feel the same ive put my old ones up and my profile pic is how I LOOK NOW, hate ive put on so much, JUST GO BY HOW YOUR CLOTHES FIT FOR NOW, ITS WHAT IM DOING, youve been going and it will come, youre having a down day and it happens to us all, but try and concentrate on the positives not the negatives, good luck hun hugs to you and message me anytime x
  • I think we all feel like that at some stage (regardless of our size). Got so sad last night about feeling so unfit and bleh compared to all the ultra-fit people but you need to just keep on going. I think this is emotional and some days you are going to feel great and happy with what you have achieved and started doing and others you are going to feel down in the dumps.

I'm going to try and think of the fact I never used to exercise, that I am a work in progress and not concern myself too much with how I am compared to others (just think wow). I would never demotivate my sister or friends (who has done so, so well and is trying everyday) so why do it to myself?
Well done on losing 15lbs - you are achieving and are amazing with what you have set out to do. :flowerforyou:
  • Just looking through the motivational pictures thread and love:
Stop competing with others and start competing with yourself.

    So true.

Is exercising a main part of your weight loss program? If not, that might be something to consider adding. Not only does it help you feel firmer (cause it does firm you up) but it also produces endorphins that just make you feel good. Also agreeing with others that it is dangerous to compare yourself to other people.

i can totally relate to what you are going through. just remember how far you have come now. and try to look at the next few lbs as five at a time. it makes it easier for me. I believe what amber86 said. you have to compete with yourself. there will always be someone thinner, fitter, or better looking! lol I try not to think about what my best friend weighs anymore. it would drive me nuts! she has always been thinner and eats like a horse crap food when we go out. but I cant do that so I deal with what I have. I am finally starting to love my body for what it is.for what it can do for me. its gonna hike the grand canyon in may! all the way down to phantom ranch!

Yes I know exactly how you feel as I go through those phases too but they do pass. I reckon some of it is more about time of life than age....I am 5 years older than you. I will send you a friend request as we're both in the UK and within a few pounds our start and goal weights are similar.

Been there done that and you know what the most important thing is how you feel. Everybody "trims" down at different rates and you'll get yours soon enough. Stick with it!
  • Are they some of your before and after pics on your profile?

keep the faith....don't put too much emphasis on others pictures and keep your discipline to one or two issues a week...one by one the hurdles will clear....and one day it will be someone else posting what you just did while they look at your success! Stay strong and think of why it is you are doing this...you are fine!
  • Hang in there, and just as many of the previous posters said,....its common and normal to get in the dumps occasionally.
At least you recognize it and can change your mood with positive thinking.

Sometimes when I get 'blue' about my slow weight loss, I make a list of tiny goals to get started on and then I feel better, or,.....I write out a menu plan and cook something yummy and delicious, which is always rewarding and helps me feel I am working in the right direction.

Excercise is another strategy for me, I always feel like I released stress and did something good for my body :o)
  • Hi guys and girls and thank you for your kind, supportive words.

yes Tracey, thats my pictures from day 1, i take them every Friday morning after i have weighed myself..front and back view, not easy doing it yourself lol. (although hubby took last Fridays for me...i actually let him). I think thats the problem, i feel like ive lost alot of weight and i know really i haven't done bad, but when i look at my photos im disgusted that i still look like that  ...thats when i just think im kidding myself that i look any better at all.

You've lost, what, 15-20 pounds so far? that's awesome. Just stick with it. Others have other challenges and you aren't in competition with them. You're in competition with yourself if anything and you appear to be winning lately. Just keep going and be proud of what you've done so far.

I can see the difference in the middle too, do your pants even still fit? Walk around in some of your old tight pants pulling the waistband out and that will make you feel better. And remember, there are a lot of people wishing they looked like you right now.
