Yes, Intermittent Fasting has given me so much freedom from food. I am a recovering bulimic and I no longer have the urge to binge. I love being able to sit down to protein, fats, vegetables and some fruit for dessert in the early evening and feast.
I have so much more energy, sleep better and no more digestive issues either.
There are so many benefits that come from Intermittent Fasting and weight loss really isn't one of them, even though I am starting to see where I am leaning out a bit.0 -
Ok, I know that allot of the IF sites state that you should try to be consistent with your meal times every day, Is this only so you get used to it and are not a raging hungry angry person? or does inconsistency throw a log in the road and cause other problems.
weekends, its nice to make pancakes or waffles for the kids and sit down and eat with them, but during the week? I can go till 5 or 6 pm before thinking about food.0 -

well, like everything else.. it depends.lol.
Some of it is consistency for people to adjust to.... but it depends if you need adjusting.
Alot of people will get loose bowels from extended IF when they start eating again.. their body has a hard time going from empty to processing food again. Most people can work through this.. but its hard to convince someone to do so...
Being consistent lets the body adjust easier... and people adjust to the new concept.0 -

Wouldn't an extended fast no longer be an intermittent fast, or are you talking about either 16/8 or one of two times a week 24 hour fasts? I know after a longer fast (say 3-5 days) you need to get your digestive system going again, but I have never heard this for the intermittent fasts that I am familiar with. Could you explain further?0 -

First, im not recommending it. I think 32 to 36 hours is the max anyone should go.. that said.
imagine you eat dinner sunday at a normal 6pm... then do a "24 hour fast" on monday by not eating at all that day. tuseday is just a normal day... you get up, you never eat breakfast, but come lunchtime you start eating again like always.
that means you went from 6pm sunday, till 12noon tuseday without eating... 6h sunday 24h monday 12h tuse.. thats 42 hours.
some people THINK that they just went on a 24hour fast because "they didnt eat monday".... but really it was 42 hours. now depending on what they ate that sunday, it might have taken 6 or even 8 hours to digest... so the body sees it as a little less then that.. but regardless, i think you see my point.... some people have extended times longer then they even realize.
back onto my point.. at around 24 hours or longer.. some peoples digestive systems have trouble going from "empty" back to full swing.. so the first meal they eat tends to "speed right though" and give them diarrhea. Especially if its a fat filled or greasy meal.
The same thing applies to full fasting of course... Alot of the "fasting plans" (once more, i dont agree with them) end with plans to "easing back into eating"... basically the same concept.0 -
also, i have a hard time buying the 16 hours as IF... even though its the staple for the name.. I mean, really, its just skipping breakfast... Ive done that my whole life. lol.0
