I've been losing inches, but not weight. I understand this is a good thing, and this is what I want...but I want that scale to move, too!

I've lost 8+ inches off my body, but I keep losing and gaining 2-3 lbs. I've been on here for 35 days, been working out every day, sticking under my calorie goal...I don't get it!

How much longer before I see a drop on the scale??

Is this even medically possible to lose this many inches without losing any kind of weight?? I can't possibly be gaining this much muscle...

Pretty sure I am...in fact, some days I think I'm overly hydrated.

on a physiological level if you eat the proper nutrition and have a good macro balance, youll lose fat before weight.
One reason is, when you work out and deplete glycogen stores in the muscle tissue you actually weigh less!
After eating and the nutrients partition either to fat or muscle, youll gain the water and glycogen/proteins back into the muscles themselves...youll weigh more!
If you have been working out and resting correctly you may even have bigger muscles thus more volume of glycogen/water/protein...weighs more.

    Relax!

This is the correct way of doing things.

You've lost 8 inches in 35 days? I'd say that's pretty damn impressive.

Unless your going to drag a scale around with you everywhere you go so you can show your friends and family how much weight you've lost, then I'd say stick with losing inches.

You are doing great. Keep it up.
  • Ok relex this is just happend to me recently what u need to do is change ur diet u need to consume more protien plus fat yes u heard it right fat and cut down carbohydrate if ur already consumeing more protien then cut down protien and add carbohydrate and also eat half of ur excercise calories what happend to me is i lost first 14 pounds quickly and i was not eating my excercise calories back and when i weight in i dint lost anything but some inches i was frustferated and disapointed. But but n but i dint give up lol and contacted my beachbody coach he told me all this that change ur deit as let your body keep guessing things and that actually worked for me since 4 days i am eating half of my calories back and changed my diet to protien + fat as i was eating protien + carbohydrate and guess what when i checked my weight today i was 168.4 from 170.2 i am still in normal BMI however i want to make some packs lol anyways that was just an advice but atleast try this for 2-3 day maybe it will work for you too

    Cheers

This makes so much sense. I knew muscles retained, but I never thought about the fact that it might retain more because I have more muscle.

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try weighing in less frequently. It's just discouraging. :(

I'm losing at a rate of 1 1/2 - 2 inches per week. I wish MFP had a ticker for inches lost...I'm rocking at that aspect.
