Hi. I am 44, happily married with 2 grown sons. I am scheduled for the lapband on March 16th (6 days after my 45th birthday). I am ready to start a new chapter in my life. I have struggled with weight my entire adult life. I have lost the same 30 lbs over and over and over. The lapband is my fresh start. I would love to talk to others who have chosen WLS as their solution. Surrounding myself with others who have traveled the same road should help me deal with the tough times ahead.

Hi - I am 4 weeks post-op today with the band. So far I would say that I am very pleased with my decision. I am down 28 pounds total (11 before surgery, 18 since) and feel great. I know each doctor is different, but I didn't have to do a real pre-op diet. I did one week of clear liquids after surgery, which was tough, but I made it through. I have been on mush/soft foods for almost 3 weeks now and I can start on solids tomorrow.
I agree, the band was a new start for me also. There are great message boards and online support groups for those of us that have chosen this route and it's both helpful and motivating to read the experiences of others.
Best of luck to you, you won't regret it!0
