Hi everyone!! I see many posts about people wanted to buy hrm's and expensive gym memberships. I just wanted to share that these are not required to be successful in weight loss. I have lost 40 pounds without using any of these tools.

Great point Robin! I was thinking about getting an HRM but decided not to. For now my workout dvd's that has been collecting dust for the last four years will be all I need for now. I don't even want to join a gym, when I did have a membership I never went. Walking and workout dvds is the way for me!!0

I run, bought an elliptical for $300 off craiglist and a lot of Jillian DVD's. I do NOT have a gym membership either!
... I do have a HRM (Christmas gift!!)0 -
I bought a set of elastic bands for strength training (bodylastics) and ride a 20 something year old bike for cardio - works like a charm.
You definitely don't have to spend a fortune - save that for new clothes!0 -
Now, this is REAL talk! I paid $5 for hrm (pulse rate monitor) off Amazon....a lot of my pals told me that should get the ones over a hundred dollars, but I figured if I knew I was doing my absolute best with each workout that was still as good as it was going to get.....now if this HRM could give me an energy boost when I start getting weary I would definitely look into it! I, too, lost majority of my weight (at least 40 pds) just simply walking around my neighborhood.0

My parents have a family membership so I get to use it. It's nice to be able to go to all the fitness classes, the pool, weight room, ect. But I don't think I would ever pay for it.0

You're so right Robin. I've lost a total of 70 lbs without the gym. I use different DVDs, stationary bike, and walking. We all have to find the best method for us. The gym works for some people but it's important for people to know it can be done at home and outside. I have an HRM but I agree that it's definitely possible to be success without one. Great post!0
