Why am I craving red meat?

Firstly, I am 99.99% sure I am not pregnant, so I don't think that's the answer.
For the last month or two, I have been craving red meat, mostly in the form of cheese burgers and cheese steak subs. I also usually want fries, but I feel like that's just because I associate them with eating those foods. But it's like every day for a while I would want either Five Guys or a steak sub and it would be a very strong desire to eat it. Even if I would eat it, the next day I would want more.
I was wondering if this could have something to do with not getting enough iron or something. I'm a poor college student, so unless I eat out I usually don't eat meat because it's so expensive. When I do, it's usually chicken. I haven't been eating a lot of leafy green vegetables lately either. Would need for iron make me want these foods or is my brain just focused on red meat to frustrate me?

could be low on fats, most of your cravings sound like more of that than iron. just a thought.0

Chances are you are lacking key nutrients your body needs to keep it in check. I would actually stay away from meat and load up in the leafy greens. our bodies will take up more iron from greens than it will from any meat source because it is easier for the body to break down greens than meat. If you are craving starch and fat, (bread, fries), try having a couple sweet potatoes and some avocado that will help. Make sure you are also drinking plenty of water. Hope this helps!0

Ground beef is a little fattier than chicken, but is easy to prep into a lot of recipes and costs the same (or less if you find it on sale). As to the craving, most cravings are more mental than related to your body really needing any given nutrient ... Maybe you need to visit a few nice cows and you won't want to eat them anymore0

If it were just the meat you were craving, you'd be ok with a super lean grilled steak. Sounds more like you are craving the greasy yummy cheesy meaty fried potato combo. That's a super addictive flavor for sure. It may take time for your tastes to change but the more you eat clean, whole foods the more you'll crave them instead of the junk.
You can do it!!!0 -
