My goal is 1400, my intake was 1611, my exercise calories was -600, net is 1011, and remaining is 389. What the heck does that really mean?

You have 389 more to eat. That's all you need to know.

Your daily calorie goal is 1400. Intake=number of cals you ate (1611). You burned 600 cals through exercise. You can eat exercise cals if you want, so if you subtracted those 600 from what you ate you would be at a net of 1011, leaving you with 389 left to eat if you want. Some people eat their exercise cals and others don't. I personally think that the calorie amounts that MFP gives to exercise is too high and would not want to eat back the full amount.

Thank you that makes more sense now. I used a HRM so I think my cal count is pretty accurate.

Your goal is 1400. This is based off the goal you told MFP. MFP calculates how much you burn without exercise in a day. If you tell it you want to lose a pound a week it then subtracts 500 from that number (500 * 7 = 3500 = a pound of fat).

When you exercise you earn 600. You should eat these calories in order for the difference between what you burn and eat to remain at the 500 you told it you wanted.

So you ate 1611. 1611 subtract the extra 600 you earned = 389 left to eat.

I eat between 1400 and 1500 every day. This is what my trainer at the gym recommended based on my percent of body fat. This will increase as I gain more muscle. Thanks for the replies.
