New at the weight loss thing, any pointers?

1) Eat food, not too much, mainly fruits and vegetables.
2) Eat the calories you are allotted
3) Drink a lot of water a day, 50% of you body weight in ounces
4) Going back to #1, try and cut out fast food and processed foods out of your diet. Also eat healthy, natural fats (nuts, avocados, beans, flax seed oil, olive oil, butter, etc.)
5) Watch your sodium intake0 -
don't "drink your calories" - just drink water. if you need caffeine black coffee or maybe unsweetened tea.0

Stay focused.
Do not waiver in the face of a chocolate eclair. Stand strong against the idea of getting that fried chicken (maybe not if it's the breast w/o the skin...). Believe that you can go another mile and your legs will loyally follow. Surround yourself with things and people that promote good health and support your desire to be a healthier individual.
Most importantly: know your goals and see them through!0
