When I'm going for walks I listen to more relaxed stuff.. john mayer, the fray, one republic...
when i'm doing high endurance stuff i listen to Top 40 type stuff.. Lady Gaga, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears... however, after recent events, I've been working out to a WHOLE lot of Michael Jackson.. his "dangerous" and "thriller" albums in particular are awesome for keeping your energy up :P0 -
I listen to mostly hip hop when I am running, but I really like putting in a few silly fast songs for fun. For example, whenever "Who let the dogs out" comes up on my workout playlist I have to laugh and have fun while running. I say find a song that makes you laugh and you will bring some fun to your routine0

www.podrunner.com with DJ Steveboy, or www.fitmusic.com --- two really good sites to download FREE podcasts of techno with lengths of at least 30 minutes to an hour - I find these help me push myself, I don't have to search for music that fits my mood, and podrunner actually has the workout music listed by bpm so you don't wind up with music that doesn't move you.
That covers the cardio portion.
For weight training, its usually metal. Metallica rules. From any decade!! lol0 -
The ones on my playlist now that make me kick it into gear are:
Ace of Spades - Motorhead
Cowboys From Hell - Pantera
The Grouch - Green Day
So Whatcha Want - Beastie Boys
Who are You - The Who
Cover of the Rolling Stone - Dr. Hook
Everlong - Foo Fighters
Christian's Inferno - Green Day
God Save the Queen - Sex Pistols
Learning to Fly - Pink Floyd (My favorite for the cool down)0 -
old mostly.....up to Metallica (the Black Album)0

Nothing beats the 80's music for a great driving beat. Locomotion, Jump, The Heat is On, lots of Huey Lewis songs, more current artists would be Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Christine Agulera (Candyman). I could go on and on because I'm an aerobic instructor and have been purchasing music for years and years.0
