Totally massive NSV

I've not had much luck in getting a job since I was laid off 2 years ago, and my weight suffered because I was so down.

The typical vicious circle - no work, boredom, low self-esteem, comfort eating, weight gain......

I've had a couple of interviews but never felt comfortable because I knew my appearance was so off-putting, and I could see peoples' expressions change as I walked into a room - needless to say, those interviews weren't successful.

I had an interview this morning, the first since I've lost almost 7 stones.

I GOT THE JOB!!!!!!!!

Perhaps I have a new found confidence, perhaps my appearance isn't so off-putting to prospective employers, I don't know, but.....

I am REALLY happy for you! I bet you feel great.
It pisses me off when employers judge people by their weight, as if we're lazy or something. Our weight is caused by a number of factors, not all the same.
I remember my mother telling me when I was in my late teens that I probably wouldn't get chosen for a job because of my weight. She's said the same thing about my brother for the same reason. Those words are very hurtful and do not inspire confidence.
The way I started to see it is this: any place that judges a person by weight is discriminatory and not a place I want to work.
