Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes

As one of my wonderful MFPals pointed out, there is a LOT of negativity on the boards this morning about what body types are beautiful.
We all know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that what appeals to one person won't appeal to everyone, but is it REALLY necessary to bash other people's views of beauty (providing they aren't unhealthy)?
Personally, I don't want to look like a bikini model or bikini contest winner, but that doesn't mean they aren't beautiful women!
So are the straight up and down athletic types, the curvy girls, those with a little extra padding, and every other variation...
And I am (slowly but surely) learning that, even with my ugly tummy skin from years of obesity followed by massive weight loss, even my body type is beautiful in its own way, too.
You know what is beautiful?
HEALTH!
(in whatever shape or size it comes in)

The most beautiful body has a smile on it , and lines around the eyes from laughing so much, and a few stretch marks from where a woman has carried a life or a person has had years of not being healthy but decided to change that, and arms that are open for caring, a mind that is open for understanding, and a heart that is open for loving.0

Thank you for pointing out that it is HEALTH that is beautiful!!! Losing weight for those of us who are bigger is always a biproduct of getting healthy!!! But I know I will still have my curves when I'm at a healthy weight because some parts of me refuse to shrink!!!0

If you're beautiful and you know it, CLAP YOUR HANDS!0

^^ This is for ALL of the beautiful MFP ladies.0 -
So agree!!!
And thank you. Sometimes on this journey to being healthier we need that reminder that we are beautiful as long as we are healthy!0 -
Deffinitely concurred. Saw the bikini contest winner and as lean as she was, not entirely appealing to me; but it's still awesome that she accomplished what she did and that's beautiful. I think some of the most remarkably beautiful traits are ambition, confidence, and a never-give-up attitude. A good physique just compliments these traits.0

I am behind this point of view as well0 -
Amen! Very well said indeed! I'm still working on looking at myself as beautiful...I have days that I know that I am but more days that I don't feel beautiful in any way. But, God is still working on me, I'm His beautiful work in progress, as we all are.0

:flowerforyou: You said it superfantabulously!!!! :flowerforyou:
I too have struggled looking at myself in the mirror....with the extra skin from when I had my twins. I am, one glance at a time, really learning to accept that I am who I am....healthy, more fit than I've ever been in my life, and appreciative of every one of God's kids. We all have our place in the universe. It takes all kinds.
I looked at the pinterest post of all the PhotoShopped and airbrushed pictures. THAT really made me feel better. I know I'll never be perfect, whatever PERFECT is....but I'll not sign up to be "fixed" by a computer either.
Thank you for your beautiful words!! It's nice to see genuine people....with a goal...with the willingness to be a bit vulnerable. You all let me know there are real, compassionate, caring human beings out there.
Be Inspired! It's All in the ATTITUDE!! Have a blessed day! :happy:0
