Unable to exercise.....

I have fibromyalgia and on certain days like today, i can hardly move due to pain, nevertheless exercise. Does anyone have any type of really gentle things I can do that still burn calories? I really want to incorporate something everyday to boost my weight loss!

It won't burn many calories, but daily stretching or hatha yoga might be a good way to deal with the pain. Start with a beginner video & work at your own pace.
collagevideo.com has specialty videos for health issues. You could look at video clips to see if this might work - Sit To Be Fit is specifically for fibromyalgia. Mayo Clinic also has a fibromyalgia workout video.
Many people swear by Aquaerobics. Walking in a pool definitely takes the impact level way down.
On days when you're feeling well, Leslie Sansone has some really good walking videos. These are workouts you CAN always do at your own pace. You never have to go faster (or longer) than you are ready for.0 -
thank you so much. that is really helpful. stretching and yoga or pilates i can do most of the time. i have tried aqua therpay, very good, just costly, waiting for the pool to open in the summer. never heard of sit to be fit, so glad to hear of it and never went to collagevideo.com. i have tried the walking videos years ago and forgot all about them. thanks again, i appreciate the help ))0

I am sorry to hear about the pain... Do you have access to a pool? Water aerobics may be an option for you maybe even water yoga or water pilates...0

I completely understand, I was hospitalised not long ago but I was advised to do certain exercises, despite sometimes the pain, to aid recovery. but take it slow and know your limits. Gentle stretching via pilates (more so than yoga) really strengthens your core and helps your back and saved my live I swear!
Swimming - at whatever pace - works your body, is gentler, good cardio but is safer for you. When you are a bit stronger .... try gentle strength training via MACHINES - not free weights, which again strengthens your core and other areas that aids recovery and promotes strength to mitigate further pain.
But whatever happens - DON'T over exert or push yourself too far of course!0 -
I have a friend with this as well. She tries to go for a slow walk everyday. Somedays she has a hard time getting going, but she just takes a shorter walk those days. She says she almost always feels better afterwards.
I hope you find something that works, the pool idea sounds good.

Hmm... sitting on a stability ball maybe? Idk how many calories it will really burn, but it's good for your core.0

I agree with trying pool exercises like water aerobics! It would relieve pressure on your joints and would be a good way to strengthen you're entire body, as well as getting your cardio in.
ALSO I would recommend hot yoga, it's amazinggg. Try a beginners class (easier moves) and the heat will help you to stay loose, making the movements even easier to do. Just remember to bring LOTS of water and a towel hahah0 -
yes the town pool indoor and out. in about a week i will be changing my hours from 12-9pm to 7am-3 pm. i am looking forward to having more time to exercise )0
