ANNOYED!

I have been hovering around 145 for awhile now. I eat fantastic during the week, but once the weekends come around, I fall off. I don't eat 5000 calories a day or anything, but certainly eat more, and unhealthier things than during the week. I need to lose about 10 more pounds, and it is becoming so hard, because I'm not seeing any weight loss. Is this weekend eating defaulting my week of work every weekend? Any advice? Thanks!

When was the last time you tracked your calories, I looked back a week and didn't see anything. Weekends can hurt but generally I see people under eating and unless you eat enough to offset your deficit, it's hard to imagine you are offsetting the deficit.0

yeah i have had a bad week, not an excuse, will get back to logging asap. but I had never thought of it that way. I know I had a major deficit going into the weekend, but it said I gained FOUR pounds when I weighed myself Monday Don't see how that's possible.0

It's water weight. Your body cycles no differently than the ocean (high tides and low tides). You would have to consume 14,000 additional calories above what you burn (TDEE) to gain 4 lbs of fat.
How much do you weigh, what are you trying to lose?0 -
One thing that helps is to plan weekend meals ahead of time, and eat ONLY those. If you want to work in a treat or two, go ahead, just work them into the calorie count you planned. If you think you will eat two slices of pizza and drink a beer, put that in your diary and see how many calories it is, and then plan the remainder of your day around that. Also, increase your exercise and water intake to compensate for the extra calores/sugar/sodium.
Best of luck!!0 -
You're right, 4 pounds over the weekend, not possible. Maybe restaurant foods, or packaged foods...most are high in sodium which means water retention that shows up on the scale Monday. As for your question, yes, overdoing it on the weekends CAN undo all of our hard work from the week. The weekend is nearly 30% of your week... that's a lot to try to make up for during the week! Maybe change the way you think about the weekends... maybe instead of looking at it as a time to indulge, reward yourself by giving yourself extra time to workout... do something fun outdoors... and use a bit of your time to prepare healthy foods for the coming week. Enjoy your healthy lifestyle!0

Sounds like it is. The last 5-10 lbs are the most difficult.

I am 5'7 and weight 145 - by no means overweight but 135 is what I felt best/healthiest at in my life, so I would love to get back to that! Everyone's responses have definitely been enlightening, and I feel as though I know what I need to do, just scared to do it! It's hard because I go to dinner with my mom almost every weekend, and I do like to splurge. Good news is I almost NEVER finish an entrée at a restaurant! I only usually eat half of anything :]0

Well until you get on a consistent schedule of tracking, it's difficult to provide advice. My suggestion is ask your mom to cook healthier things that are chicken or turkey based.0
