Pasties are a British food eaten with your hands. Think of homemade Hot Pocket but a million times better. I miss living in England.0 -
false advertising, I was expecting to see pictures a la Janet Jackson.0
-
I was good all day but they are around 750 calories0

I knew what the OP meant but my mind went there anyways. Picture boobie pasties made out of toast that has been cut out with a heart shaped cookie cutter....or a star.0

i usually see these when I'm up in the UP..... I haven't come across a veggie one yet, so if anyone knows of them let me know! My man and I are veggie and I would love to try this.0

You can make them yourself and they're not too bad.

hahahahaha!!!! I too thought it was pastie...and since I'm a huge burlesque fan I figured I would check out what ya came up with. They are super easy to make!!!!!!!0

For the inevitable US/British English confusion:
US definition of a pasty - a small fabric or plastic circle that goes over the nipple - either to conceal it beneath clothing when not wearing a bra, or as an exhibition piece. Not for eating. Or maybe, if you're lucky/adventurous....
Brit/Aussie/otherwise post-colonial definition: a flaky pastry shell with vegetable and meat filling - like a calzone made from puff pastry.0 -
...oh...thought you were gonna explain how to make homemade pasties. darn!0
-
well they were home made by my mum lol0

Oh man, I am fully cracking up out loud over reading this! I was laughing so hard my 5 year old son keeps saying, "What is it mommy? What's so funny that you read??"0 -

Yeah, I knew what it was, but still thought "don't you just call those stickers?" anyway. Now having the two definitions side by side I'm imagining pasty pasties0 -

Ahhh... the differences between the King's English and the colonies!!0 -

Oh thank you so much for posting that! I love pasties and didn't figure there was a "healthier" option. Definitely plan to try these!0 -
Many people are going to click here for one thing and instead learn a little something about English food.0

The Brit/Aussie version is also quite popular in some parts of the midwest...particularly the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Haven't had one since I was a kid, but they are delish!0 -
I like the US definition best...0

Thanks for posting this link. I can't wait to share it with my hubby so hopefully he will make them (his way, and clean). Haven't had a pasty in awhile....they are common here in northern Wisconsin. There's even a small restaurant in Rhinelander, WI, that has a ton of varieties....breakfast ones (with egg, sausage, cheese, potatoes, etc......sooooo good), Greek ones (with Feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, ground lamb), a bunch of other ones, but still love the regular ones (without those disgusting rutabagas....LOL)0 -
SO BUMMED!!!!!0

Add a couple of these:
Voila - homemade pasties!
Oh wait - that's not what the OP meant. Sorry about that.0 -

Well what do you expect from a county that eats spotted d...
You know. I just didn't want to get the thread locked. But seriously, is that a real dish or was that made up for the movies?0
