Frying in Oil

I searched and saw that this question was asked about 5 months ago, but I wanted to see if anyone had any better ideas for how to handle this. How do I measure the amount of oil used when I fry something? And before anyone suggests just not using oil it's not for me. My husband said that he doesn't want to do this program b/c there is no way to accurately measure this and I want to prove him wrong! The only way I have heard is to measure the amount of oil before and then after and subtract, but is there a more accurate way?

If you mean how much oil is left in the bottom of a pan after cooking chicken, then just estimate the amount that went in and voila. If you mean a deep fryer then the issue of "doing this program" is not over a missing half tbsp of oil, but in a whole diet change question - as in, this molehill is not the mountain really being fought over.

I just track the whole amount I add to the pan if I ever have to add any (read: I don't, my cast iron pan is well seasoned if it's properly preheated nothing stucks) really made me cut down on the oil I was using to the point I realized I didn't need it... coming from a family who has to oil the pan that they're about to cook bacon in that was a major victory ;)

i find 1 tablespoon is a good amount in my non stick pan. there's always some left over, but i just count the entire 1 T in my calories.

yeah if this is a deep fryer, that's different since the food is actually soaking in it...

When in doubt I double or tripple something if I am not sure this way I know I am not cheating myself
