For the runners: shorts over leggings?

I'm starting a C25K program on Saturday with a group in my community. The weather is still ever changing between low 30s to mid 40s here. So, my question is; would I look silly wearing running shorts over capri leggings? I already know that I don't like running in sweatpants, swishy pants or any sweat pant type material. And I don't feel ready to wear leggings alone... yet! Any thoughts?

Yes, it would look silly.
LOL
But who cares?
Wear what you are comfortable in!

I find it more comfortable to wear my spandex capris under my leggings, but whatever you prefer!! Who cares what other people think- do what's best for you. : )0

Wear what works for you. The cool people won' t judge.0

Whatever makes you happy! Personally, I like wearing shorts over my compression leggings in cold weather. I like having the option of pockets with my shorts to keep some energy gel for long runs or somewhere to stash my running gloves mid-run if needed. Not to mention I survived the eighties and the spandex craze....never was a big fan of those spandex shorts0

Thank you everyone!
Now I just need a bandanna, a fanny pack, and some leg warmers to complete the look! :noway: :laugh:0 -
I've seen lots of people in shorts over leggings... and you can even buy running skirts with capri leggings attached, so go for it!
It's much more important that you feel comfortable in what ever you're wearing, there probably won't be any fashion police along the footpath - and if htere are, run away from them!0 -
It looks ridiculous. And I say that with confidence because probably 1/4 - 1/3 of the runners I see on the trail I run on are wearing that combo.
But I'm running with an ugly hydration belt, pants that are too short cuz they shrunk in the wash, an improperly fitting tee, a hat so used that it has huge white stains all over the black mesh from the sweat that never come out, bulky headphones and my hair is flipping out the bottom of my hat like a deranged school girl.
So I'm not one to judge. lol
What I'm saying is, it doesn't matter one iota what anyone else thinks about what you choose to wear. As long as you're comfortable and out there running, that is *all* that matters.0 -
About a month ago, when it was around 32 degrees outside, I frequently ran in black/silver basketball shorts over navy leggings, orange shoes, a blue shirt over a yellow shirt, and orange earmuffs.
In public. And I'm a dude.
I'm sure I looked like a clown, but I'm also sure that I was burning a helluva lot more calories than anyone sitting down laughing at me.0 -
LMAO Thank you guys for sharing! Now I just can't wait to go out and run! :bigsmile:0

hehe I run with a fanny pack ... its better to wear what you are comfortable with so youll be focusing on the run...It looks ridiculous. And I say that with confidence because probably 1/4 - 1/3 of the runners I see on the trail I run on are wearing that combo.

It looks normal around here. Plenty of runners in a base layer then shorts including myself sometimes! The base layer keeps me warm but is skin tight so.... the shorts cover my butt and the combo is a lot more comfy than heavier pants.
You won't look silly - you'll look like a runner :flowerforyou:0 -
dont worry about the people standing still that you see for 4 seconds as you zoom past0

I wear running shorts over my running capris ALL THE TIME. I learned really quickly that it's more important that I'm comfortable and NOT worried about my clothes so that I can just RUN!
Where I live, lots of other women do it too, so I never thought about it looking stupid. But then again, after a few miles you just don't care.0 -
I always wear shorts over my leggings. It gives me a little more coverage and a couple extra pockets.
I'll also echo the sentiment of "If you're comfortable, who cares"....
I made the mistake in my first HM of going out and getting a "cute" running outfit. 6 miles in and the insides of my arms and my hip bones were chafed to almost bleeding. Wear what works and doesn't rub you the wrong way.0 -
Yep. Shorts over leggings.0
