question for people that have had weight loss surgery

I am posting this message for my mother. She is considering having weight loss surgery. My brother is a doctor, and has recomended this to her, and her doctor was okay with the idea as well. She has problems with her knees, which has made exercise difficult. She is very scared about having this surgery, however she is worried that if she doesn't have the surgery she will die soon. I too am very worried for her as well. I told her I would post this message for her. She is hoping to find some people that would be willing to message back and forth with advice and to answer some questions that she has.
